Well as I said before, I don't HATE it, but I was frustrated and disappointed by it. There were some good parts in the movie, but not nearly enough of them. And we already talked about the lack of character development. In discussions about the movie in other forums, I'm starting to see a trend towards people liking the Lilly/Garth relationship better than the Kate/Humphrey one. That's a very clear sign that the writers did not do enough to develop Kate and Humphrey's characters.

Since the movie was about them, that could be seen as a bit of a problem. :D It's all been talked about already, I'll just say again that I wish this had been a better movie.

if anyone's interested, there are some Alpha and Omega toys on Ebay UK right now..

funny how there didn't seem to be any toys for this movie in the U.S I guess Mcdonald's USA just wasn't interested..

but then I don't recall toys for Fantastic Fox either in the US yet there are some in Europe *Shrug*..

Cat, dare I ask.. is Kate worse than Kiara or Aleu? I know both of them get a lot of flak..

And yes. Just as you said. Its nothing "new". So why is everyone LOVING this movie? Cuz there's wolves in it. Its your stereotypical romance where there's only two outcomes. Will they get together? Or not? Its boring.

If I may interject here, studies actually show that the majority audiences want to see things and storylines that are familiar to them, something they can relate with. That's why filmmakers don't go for original, not because they can't come up with a good idea. People actually like seeing the same things over and over in situations just different enough that they're relatable, but not exactly the same. And apparently, if the movie is making money, then that fact has been proven again - even if they didn't do it well, which is the idea I'm getting here, having not seen the movie myself.

I guess that's why a movie such as Scott Pilgrim VS The World, being different as it is, is why it didn't do good at the box office. Oh no wait. Its because the audience it was directed towards has absolutely no spending money xDDD

If you haven't noticed, people are taking more DIFFERENT things than similar ones and putting them in movie form nowadays. They're trying their darndest to break free of this bad movie binge they've been doing the past half a decade, so I think its about time Lionsgate catches up with Pixar and Dreamworks. Heck, they should try to catch up with Blue Sky Studios, they're easier to catch, if you know what I'm saying.

In any rate, this whole "staying inside the box" thing is an obstacle, even tho it doesn't have to be.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is an example of thinking outside the box thing for children's movies. Being ESPECIALLY for adults who loved the movie Royal Tenenbaums. But people didn't know that, did they?

Kate has the same problem as Kodi. She's boring. But she's at least tolerable. Unlike Aleu. Kiara's actually not that bad.

Kate's howling was basically how Aleu's should've been. Yet despite her horrid pitch, Aleu received more compliments on her "singing" than Kate did. Which kinda sucked, cuz, even tho she wasn't any Broadway singer, I woulda thought someone would've complimented Kate's voice.

yeah, if it weren't for UP.. I'd definitley give the Oscar to Fox.. gotta love quirky humor ;)..

so how does this movie compare to Roadside Romeo? ( I know only a few have seen that movie) but I think A and O has slightly better animation..

I think it's really safe to say poor animated films fair a lot better than poor live-action films. Very likely from the fact that animated films charm to children.
I personal don't like to compare two movies across that boarder.

I understand what you mean with the professional reviews, and to be honest, I knew I was biting the bullet a little more with this movie than most. It's not like we're making a hit out of a poor movie, it just that, with this movie specifically I think it's most to make your own review on it.

And it's not like we're forcing anyone to take your money to the cinema (frankly, it's not that worth it). But if you're curious, I agree with renting it.

On a side note, I really don't understand the hate towards romance.

Fun fact:
All from IMDB

Alpha and Omega
Budget: $20,000,000
Gross: ~24,000,000

Legend of the Guardians
Budget: $80,000,000
Gross: ~57,000,000

Hence the reason I will be waiting until it comes out at Redbox probably. That and I'm a poor college student >.< Yay for $1 movies!

That's cuz its used as a main plot too much instead of a subplot. With romance, like I said, there's only two outcomes. Will they get together or not? And either way you can't be surprised. Plus I think it's stupid to promote THE FUN EXCITING LIFE OF going out with someone. If one uses it as a subplot, you get to pay attention to things that are more important and at the same time get character development.

Doesn't need to be in spoiler tags, does it? It's been out for months, plus with all the discussion here already, everybody pretty much already knows what happens. I'll just respond to your post in this way:

The howling actually made me cringe - yes
as did the wedding - yes
the standing on two feet - yes
the bullet somehow hitting part of the fence and then ripping a hole in it that was big enough for them to run through - yes
and them sliding down a mountain and somehow flying into the only open door on the entire train - yes.

meh.
generic generic generic.
And they're just pooling in on the huge wolf fandom.
The animation was mediocre as well.
