What? Had he heard her right? Atticus blinked, and gulped. He would've come up with an excuse, that way he wouldn't have to go see her. However, when he heard her voice catch, he replied in a low voice: "Sure... I'll come over..."

"Thank you." She said, trying to contain her voice.

Atticus hung up after a quick goodbye. He then went and got a shirt, pulling it quickly on.

Within at least twenty five minutes he arrived at Heathers house, he then went and knocked on her door sighing and looking at his feet.

With a heavy sigh, Heather went to the door. She looked out the peep-hole before opening the door and looking Atticus up and down. It was silent for a moment. And then, out of absolutely no where, Heather ran at Atticus and hugged him tightly.

“Thank you, so much.” She muttered into the crook of his neck.

Atticus had to stiffen his legs, to keep from falling when she suddenly grabbed him. 'Thanks' was the last thing he was expecting her to say, but he didn't argue. After standing for a moment he laced his arms around her back and returned the hug, tightly. "I..I'm just glad you're alright..." he said.

Heather nodded quickly and slowly ulaced her arms from around his back. She looked at him, her eyes worried. What if he ever got caught? Oh no, he couldn't. She couldn't lose him now, or never. Never ever.

"Stay with me tonight? I'm kinda' flipped about what happened..." She asked, slumping her shoulders.

Atticus had to bit his tongue, so that he wouldn't give an instinctive 'What?!' in reply to her wanting him to stay. "Uh... sure? I can stay if you want me to." he replied after a moment of thought.

Heather looked sadly at the floor, he had hesitated, that ment no. She listened to his unsure answer and took a step back. If he didn't want him to stay if he didn't want too.

"Nevermind, you don't want to. Forget it." She muttered.

"No! I-I mean... I want to- er I mean- I will-..." he had to pause and get his thoughts together "I want to stay with you, Heather. If you're still freaked out from what happened. I don't mind staying." he replied.

"You don't mind, but you don't want too. I get it. I'm sorry for asking." Heather said, her voice revealing nothing but hurt.

Atticus just... he had never stayed the night with a girl who liked him before... but Heather wasn't like his other flings. He truly cared about her, and respected her. Spending the night with her just seemed... awkward... he soon decided that he could stay. He would be staying, because she asked him to. "No, Heather. I want to stay with you. Really, I don't want you to be here alone if you're scared... Honestly, I want to stay with you. And I will stay if you let me." He assured, softly cupping her chin with his hand and gently turning her so she would look up at him and so he could look into her eyes.

Heather nodded and hugged him again. She never really did care about anyone else besides Atticus. Sure, she cared about her parent. Sure, she cared about her friends. But not the same way she cared about Atticus, she wanted to be around him every spare moment she had. She wanted him around her all ohurs of the day. Heather tugged him inside and looked at him carefully.

"How long have you been...You know...him." She asked, reffering to Ghost.

Atticus was prepared for that question... he thought for a moment then replied "Umm... a couple of years... it started after that huge shooting, at that middle school downtown... I-I knew who did it... but my boss wouldn't give me the time of day, he didn't take me seriously. So a year after that shooting I-I went after the guy..." Atticus explained quietly.

"And it just became apart of you..." Heather guessed, she looked down and noticed their hands that were laced together. It was a nice feeling, the connection, the link between them.

"Atticus...This isn't going to change anything between us. I like you...a lot..." She said, blushing a little, "And I don't think what you do is wrong, I think it's good. To have a superhero." Heather added.

"Yeah... Ghost eventually became.. real.." he said, his blue eyes also looked down at their hands. In any other relationship, he would have removed his hands, but he didn't, there was something between them, he smiled a little. Then she spoke and his eyes darted up at her quickly. He smiled, and the only reply he could give was "I'm so glad to hear that."
