"Oh, hello, dear," said the Butterfree, trying to project an air of nothing's-wrong, but it quickly broke down. "My darling Caterpie went missing!" she sobbed. "I don't know where she could be!"

"That sounds bad," said Ilac. "Eevee, let's help!"

"Oh, just help me look around, dear," said Butterfree gratefully. "If we can find somewhere Caterpie can get stuck, or interesting for him to look around in, then we know where he's gone."

"Okay, that makes sense," said Ilac. "Let's split up and meet back here in an hour. If we find something, then just figure out where it is compared to here." Dropping to all fours, he took off.

Not knowing the layout of this strange land, Ilac carefully memorized every step that he took. Being a Rancher, although he could not remember it well, he had an excellent memory for landscapes, and a mental map was forming in his mind. And he could tell it would come in handy.

Butterfree fluttered through the forest, still sobbing quietly. Where could Caterpie be? But the two Pokemon that obviously lived in the forest... they would make a good Rescue Team, she could feel, even without knowing if they could rescue her darling daughter...

Ilac stared. The giant forest had seen menacing, but this was even more scary. A giant wall of trees so close together that nobody could pass stood as an impenetrable blockade, except for one gap in the middle. Where Ilac was now standing. Ilac carefully committed its location to memory, and then took off to Eevee's house. He wasn't going in there alone.

OOC: I can imagine a good way to explain Mystery Dungeons to Ilac. I'll PM you my thoughts.

Ilac quickly drew a map in the dirt as he spoke. "There was this big wall of really close-together trees, and, well, I didn't want to go in alone."

Ilac quickly led the way. The wall of trees was etched into his memory. "See?" he asked.

"A Mystery Dungeon?" asked Ilac. The name sounded evil.

"Lost?" asked Ilac, dread on his tone. "Trapped?"

"Caterpie!" wailed Butterfree. "Oh, you must go and save him!"

Ilac, with uneasy anticipation, thought, Save Caterpie? In a "dungeon" filled with feral, aggressive Pokemon? Quietly, so that Butterfree could not hear but Eevee could, he whispered, "Should we?"

Uneasily, Ilac said, "We'll do it."

Butterfree almost swooned with happiness. "Oh, thank you!" she cried.

Ilac nodded and walked into the Mystery Dungeon.
