Ranger gestured for the other dogs to follow, but as soon as they started walking, a huge rumbling sound started suddenly, and the ground beneath their paws began shaking violently. Ranger yelped in shock, turning to look at his friends as the surrounding buildings began crumbling, and the pavement cracked beneath.
Ranger stared at his friends for a brief moment, then shouted the only thing he could.
"Run!!!"

Kali yipped in surprise and shock, momentarily frozen by panic. Then, as her self-preservation instinct kicked in, she ran.
Dakota followed Kali blindly, heart in his mouth as his paws flew over the ground.
Tally stayed by Ranger, loyalty ivercoming her instincts. She would run once he had started to do the same.

"The quake worsened as the dogs ran, the ground under their paws shattering into tiny pieces. Screams could be heard throughout the town as carnage ensued. Ranger looked behind, reassuring himself that his friends were following, then put on an extra burst of speed, narrowly dodging a falling building to his right. Looking behind himself again, he gasped in shock. The town behind them was disappearing, literally falling into a gigantic ravine forming where it had used to be. Suddenly, a large cracking noise made Ranger glance back forward. The land about 15 feet in front of him had risen about 10 feet, leaving a rock wall in the way. Skidding to a halt, he watched a small car skid over the edge towards him, trying to stop, and crashing down not 2 feet from him, smashing the front end. In panic, he stared at his friends.
"Now what!!?"

Kali had already made it to the other side of teh rocky wall, and was now seperated from the others, except Dakota, who had followed her.
Dakota heard the car crash, and let out a low whine, wincing, hoping no one he knew had been hurt by the crash.
Tally stared at Ranger, panic obvious in her brown eyes, similar to the look in Ranger's eyes. "I don't know!" she cried out, her vocie shaky. Dust made her once yellow fur grey and matted.

Thinking fast, Ranger gestured toward the car.
"Up here!"
He jumped onto the wrecked car's hood, which now had smoke pouring out from under it, and ran up over the roof to the trunk, using it as a ramp. Looking ahead, he was able to see the edge of town, and the path he and the others took to meet Fen. The ground was relatively in tact, but at the rate it was degrading, it wouldn't be for too much longer. Looking back, then, and noticing the gaping canyon still growing, consuming more and more of what used to be the peaceful little town of Wallace, He glanced down at his friends, seeing if they had followed him up the car.
Tucker had, along with the two police dogs, and was now hopping up and down urgently.
"We have to hurry up! Let's go! now!!!!"

Tally scrambled up the trunk, her claws leaving deep grooves in the once glossy and unblemished paint. She looked anxiously at Dakota and Tally, who stood slightly above her, seperated from them by a huge crack.
"We have to jump!" Dakota said, cutting through Kali's panic. He had noticed the ground shaking under his feet, and a webbing of small cracks were spreading towards them. "Come on!"
Kali couldn't speak with her dry mouth, so just nodded, her eyes wide and frightened, willing to do anything to survive. She ran to the edge, and waited for Dakota, her loyal nature overcoming fear by a little bit.
"Jump!" Dakota said, doing the same.
Kali obeyed, leaping to the other side. She made it half-way. Her hind paws scrambled for a grip, and she felt the earth crumbling under her front paws. "Dakota!" she cried. The earth broke into pieces, and Kali fell.
Dakota had made it, and leane over the edge, tears making his voice thick. "Kali!' he cried out.
"Come on Dakota!" Tally shouted. From where she was, and where the debris was placed, she had no idea what had happened.
