Xinal stood there dumbfounded. Then he realized that what Daiku had said was true. He could see a slight resemblance between Daiku and Granger.

Granger nodded. "Yes, now that I actually confirmed it. I do see it." Granger swept his tail around Daiku tenderly. "You've grown a lot since..." He trailed off, his mind racing. All the things that happened during that time frame. Then suddenly his love turned to rage for some reason as he remembered the battle due in the coming day. "Everyone make your final preparations!" His stance sepping away from Daiku towards his usual position for addressing. "We will prepare to attack at dawn. I need preliminary scouts to head out. Beta Assault force cavalry standby, you'll need the rest. Omega assault force get ready."

Flicking an ear, Vixen turned to Xinal. "Wait...will I be forced to stay here, or will I have to battle?" She tipped her head, trying to hide the panic that rose inside her, steadily getting worse. She really didn't want to face any wolves right now. Not that she couldn't fight, but fearful that someone would recognize her.

Before she knew it, Vixen was sucked into a daydream of the past.

"You have to get out of here!" a white wolf growled, both him and Vixen racing through the darkest parts of the forest. "Hurry up, before they kill us both!"

Vixen sped up, ignoring the urge to stop since her foot was twisted and bleeding. "I'll be fine on my own from here, you need to get back before they suspect you." She came to a halt on the edge of the territory.

The wolf curled his lip. "They already suspect me anyway, kid. Now get out of here, I'll be ok."

Pinning her ears back, she turned and raced across the open fields. "Good luck, Valor!"

Not long after she'd heard alot of snarling, and then caught the scent of blood. Her brother was dead.

Vixen shook her head to clear it and sat down.

"I don't know that's for Granger to decide..." Xinal replied before turning to Vixen when he didn't hear a response, "Vix-" Xinal had turned to see Vixen staring off into space, concern flashed in his eyes, "Are you alright?"

Granger approached Xinal. "Xinal, prepare to go on Scouting duty. Afterwwards you are to join the Beta Assault... but that doesn't mean you're now a beta wolf." He growled, "As for you..." Granger trailed off when he glanced at Vixen, "What's with you?"

"I...nothing." Vixen flicked an ear and turned to meet Granger's gaze once he came over and asked her what was wrong. Although nothing else suggested that something was bothering her, blue eyes were flashing with memories.

"What do you want me to do, Granger?" Though she sounded no longer distracted, she was angry at herself for even thinking about how she left her brother for dead.

You could have told him to come along. But no, you had to run. And now he's dead. Vixen looked down at the ground, in hopes that no one in the battle would recognize her. She'd grown alot since she left, but it was her eyes that gave her away. They looked just like the Alphas, being a distant relative.

(wow, I guess I don't have writers block anymore. )

Granger held his stare for a little while longer before answering, "You'll be joining Xinal in the Beta Assault force. He will brief you on what their plan is." Granger nodded before turning away. "You must conserve your energy, the power you have is to useless to waste."

"You sure you're ok? You don't look too well." Xinal said to Vixen after nodding to Granger in acknowledgement. "Why don't you have some water to wake you up?" Xinal suggested. "I'll accompany you to the water hole," he offered.

Daiku left and stood off in the distance, tempering his power and making attacks strong enough Granger would tremble at the power, but Daiku was lost, should he fight for his mother? or father? he was torn between teh two and decidied, he must stop this battle! lives would be lost cause two lovers, his parents got in a fight! what he was going to have to do was going to be the hardest... he would eihter have to kill one of his parents, or somehow stop them...

Vixen snapped loudly, and harshly. "I'm FINE! I don't need anything, especially your company!" Without meaning to, she curled her lip and sank her flaming claws into the ground.

Suddenly she stopped, eyes no longer narrowed and mouth open slightly. "I'm sorry...I guess there is something on my mind, but it's not important at all."

Xinal stepped back, his ears flattened against his head. He was taken aback by the fierce retort and knew he shouldn't push the issue. "It's alright," Xinal replied to her apology, "I'm sorry to have bothered you when already told me that you were fine." He bowed his head before truning around to leave the den his tail dragging along the ground.

"Wait...Xinal, I really didn't mean it!" She called after him, but just hung he head afterwards with a sigh. Great...

Vixen stood up and padded off as if to get a drink of water, but no way was that where she was going. She was getting out of here!

Xinal walked on towards the border, "Too bad... I was going to tell her a part of my plan, but... He spoke to himself. He was planning to head over to the Water Wolves and tell them about the attack so they can prepare. Afterwards try and get the Wind wolves to help to outnumber the Ground wolves but there's time pressure. Then during the battle they turn on Granger and try to kill him because they were nearest and in the heat of battle Granger will be no doubtedly taken by surprise, "It was flawed in the first place. We're just two. Nyx isn't feeling well so she can't be part. Daiku... is a bit too young." Xinal shook himself. He was getting nowhere.

I should probably get a drink first to clear my head. He told himself before heading to the waterhole. As he bent down to drink he noticed someone moving out of camp. He looked back up instantly, "Vixen? Is that you?" he stepped forward squinting into the darkness.

At frist Vixen thought it was Granger, then realized it was Xinal. Either way, she almost took off at a run. Instead, she turned her head. "Yeah...it's me."

Daiku soon tired of his training and looked at everything he destroyed around him, impressed by his own work, he let his tongue hang out and panted. He let his head slowly droop to his opaws and he closed his eyes, taking a nap before the battle and to rest up.

Xinal padded over, "I'm glad it's you." He said, "I can't execute my plan alone. And we don't have much time till the attack." Xinal glanced over to the side of the territory to where blood could be shed the next day.

The camp was bustling with activity, wolves moving here and there, apprenticed wolves practicing their battle moves while a couple of senior wolves surround Granger discussing their battle plan.

"What do we do about Wind Wolves? They can ally with the Water Wolves and-"

"They won't have a reason to do such!" Granger snapped.

"But sir," Another wolf barked back, "They know what we are doing they have a substantial threat waiting to ambush us should they decide to attack while we launch our own offensive."

Granger glanced back a thoughtful gleam in his eye.
