Thank you. Like everyone is saying, if your a Twilight fan I won't go against you for it. However I am not afraid to say in said fan's face 'Twilight sucks.' Most go crazy, some shrug it off, but all in all to me it just does suck. I bet I could get ten times more from Vampires Suck.

tibb_wolf wrote: Ansem555 wrote: The Twilight Saga. I have never read it, but I shall get to why. I have heard many reviews, seen many things, read loads of stuff, about what happens in the books, how the characters are, and how its a total emo-stage for a whole book. All the reviews are nearly exactly alike in wording (from people like me who dislike this sort of thing) : Boring, dull, Bella whines (not surprising), and I have even viewed a thing on a site called 'The Oatmeal' which made its own review about Twilight. It only took a few minutes for the point to come across: When you spend mass-majority of the time describing how a character looks, move on. And apparently while Edward is all described as practically a god, Bella isn't described at all. Not only that, but as people have also said about Edward watching Bella sleeping at night is just weird! And Edward sparkling? No, just... Just no... Also, I am on Team Buffy, so that sums the rest of my rant up. I do think its rather silly to judge something you yourself have not actually taken the time to read. I thought I would absolutely hate Twilight but ended up liking it. Because I decided it was stupid to judge something that I hadn't read. And really, there is no set definition on a "vampire" because they aren't real. The vampire myth has been altered so many times before, but everyone decides to throw a hissy fit because Myers decided to make her's sparkle - using that to explain why they don't venture out in the sunlight. And really, its the same with the "Its stupid of a girl to fall in love with a vampire!!" .... Buffy and Angel all ready beat Bella and Edward to the punch. They did that whole thing a long time before Twilight came out. --- That being said, there really aren't any books I can think of that I hate. I didn't necessarily like the books we were forced to read in school because I don't enjoy being told I have to read something. My hero. FYI guys, hating Twilight isn't cool anymore. It's been given waaaaay too much undeserved negative energy lately, and it's lasting longer and becoming more ridiculous than the crazy fans. They dropped it ages ago, why can't you? Jeez. It's just a stupid book, I don't understand how people go crazy over hating it so much. You may think it's dumb, but plenty of people (i.e. me & Tibb) don't. And hating it because "EDWARD SPARKLES EEEEWWW HE'S SUCH A GAY FAIRY OLOL" isn't a good reason to build so much hate on. For god's sake. And people hating because it's cool to hate just sicken me. It's because of people like you that make fans afraid to say they like it now. All your hate is based on opinion - nothing more. "It's a dumb/stupid book"/"it was badly written" is all based on opinion. I personally think it was very well written and, here's a shocker for you, so does my boyfriend. And he's not the only boy I know who's a fan. And believe me - they're both perfectly straight. The reason why I'm saying this is because you have no idea how many people I've seen that have said "People who like Twilight are retarded" or "My god that book is so stupid, the people who like it are just retarded edward fangirls or have something wrong with them", and, quite frankly, I am sick to death of it. I'm not saying you shouldn't hate it. I'm saying don't decide to hate it before you've read it, don't hate something just because it's cool and fashionable and something everyone hates and don't hate it for ridiculous unfair reasons, i.e. "Edward sparkles", "Edward's a stalker", "Bella's stupid". It also pisses me off when people promote hate, i.e. "don't read this book, you'll lose all your brain cells" or "don't read it, it's a waste of time" and get responses like "I don't ever plan on reading it anyway, it sounds dumb" (based on what other haters have said) and "lolol i'd never read something as gay and stupid as that." Am I the only one who feels really, really sorry for Stephanie Meyer? I mean my god, after looking at the number of "Want to hear a joke? Stephenie Meyer" and "Stephenie Meyer deserves to be killed" stamps on dA, I bet she's recieved a lot of grief in real life. I had to get that off my chest. Can't go anywhere these days with people spewing their ridiculously unfair hate on a stupid measly book. Hating on it isn't cool anymore.

... Well, it seems this topic has de-railed a bit, so I'll attempt to right it back on track. Let's drop all this nonsense about Twilight (it's not an "I hate Twilight" thread or an "I love Twilight thread") and move on . ------------ Another book I'm not really a big fan of is The House On Mango Street, or really any of the stories written by Sandra Cisneros. This isn't to say that she's a horrible person. Quite the contrary! She's an extraordinary woman and her works did help writing as a whole in many different ways. If you'd like to know more about her, google her. Despite all of this, I just really don't like the book, mostly because of the style it is written in. Though this style is what made her famous and what sets her apart from many other authors, I find it dull and a pain to read. This might be due to my being used to the grammar and structure the English language provides, and I typically don't like to see it abused, no matter what the reason. But I think it also has to do with the subject matter she writes about and the stories she chose to tell. I just really didn't find them all that interesting when I tried to get through the collection. I was expecting for something to really be resolved, and I sought a fulfillment that I never found in the book. As such, even though I only attempted to read it in 2003, I really have no interest in trying again. I would not recommend this book lightly to other readers who are more like myself, though many schools often incorporate it as part of their English/Literature program, so I'm sure it's bound to be forced upon some of you at least. My advice is to take it with a grain of salt and try to enjoy it as I did not - I'm sure it offers insight somewhere between the pages. I just was unfortunate enough not to find it.

This one is gunna come as a shock to some people and i may even get flammed for what im about to say. But, i've never liked Stephen King. I've never been able to finish any of his books i've attempted to read. The farthest i made into a book by him was 'IT' and i only made it to page 300 something. I think the storys are great, ive watched all the movie adaptations of his books that have been made so far. I understand that these movies are probably no where near to acurate in the book terms, movie adaptations of books are almost always a disappointment. BUT, there's something about his writing style that i just don't find appealing. I had trouble keeping up with the time line with his books. I recall one scene in 'IT' where it went to a flashback. During the flashback, he went into another flashback. It was just a little too difficult to understand what time it was because i could never tell if i was reading a flashback scene or the present time.
Nothing against Stephen King. He's one of the most popular authors. Obviously he's not a crappy writer or whatever. His style just doesn't appeal to me.

Well I have never read a book I necessarily hate, but there is one I had to read for school and found extremely boring. I found myself just WAITING to finish the rest so I could throw it away some where in my room XD It was called: "Knots in my Yo-yo String" It's basically an autobiography on a guy named Jerry Speneli and it follows his life. I found it rather boring and so did the rest of my class, but it's up to the reader I guess on how to judge it. EDIT: I remember a book I actually did hate. It was called... The files of Mrs. Basil? Something like that... but I remember it being about some girl named Claudia who runs away from home with her brother or something... it was REALLY stupid. I hated that book. Another book I found boring was "The Borrowers". Well written, yes, but fun to read? I don't think so. YET ANOTHER boring book: "Ramona Quinby: Age 8". Geezus, was this book bad or what? All it's about is a girl who's afraid she's being a nuisence to everyone... And mind you every single book I've listed so far was the ones my school made me read X3

Although I do have respect for the Redwall series, it's also very long. Some of the emphasis on character's native tongues can be straining on my mind when I'm trying to read it. I don't even know where to start with which book as there are too many, and it's still going. I'd find it easier to see an abridged version based on the cartoon, instead.

I didn't like Steven King that much because his writing is just basically Madlibs. He writes the same thing over and over and over and over again, he just swaps out monsters.

Jerry Spinelli is a very talented writer, but this didn't appeal to me at all. And the chapter about mechanics? Pointless to me.
