Sergei & Amali (Me and SixNewAdventures ONLY)

(I know, it's hard to write long conversations. I feel old compared to you, since I just turned 21^^')

Sergei finished the fish, and then looked at Mbali again.

- I don't get it, if you're still mad at me, why'd you bother to save my life? he asked.

- Because I still love you, Mbali said, looking him straight in the eyes.

Sergei was quiet for a moment, and then remembered Amali.

- I never stopped caring about you, Mbali, but now there's someone new in my life. And I love her, he explained, and only hoped Mbali would understand.

Amali began to make her way to the gorge again. Every paw-step hurt as she remembered the encounter the day before. I'm doing this for Sergei, I'm doing this for Sergei, she repeatedly told herself as she came face-to-face with the broken edge of the branch.

She shook away the dread that crept into her fur and looked down. It was an easy climb down, and if she followed the river, she might meet him again. She crouched down and took all her strength into her back muscles as she prepared to jump. She gave a flying leap and ended up on a small ledge protruding out from the cliff side.

She easily climbed down after that and began to follow the river.

Mbali lowered her head, pinning her ears down against her neck, and looked away from Sergei. She did not want him to see the small tears that rolled down her cheek. She knew there never could be a future for her and him again, but still she had secretly hoped otherwise. So, she swallowed her tears with pride, and finally turned towards Sergei.

- I understand. Go, find the one you love, and be happy, the lioness then said, with wet eyes.

Sergei got up on his feet, slowly and carefully, for his shoulder still hurt, and looked at her.

- Thank you, Mbali, for saving my life, I'll never forget it, and I'll never forget you, he said, looking her in the eyes and gave his ex-mate one last nuzzle, then he turned quickly around and ran away.

Amali sniffed as she felt something familiar in the air. The scent which she got was so familiar, she couldn't help but wonder whose it was. The next second, she could have kicked herself for not recognizing the scent. It was his scent!

"Sergei?"

Sergei ran beside the river, towards the spot where everything had happened, thinking Amali might still be there. But when he got there, there was no sight of her.

- Where are you, my love? he thought desperatly, gazing up to the sky.

Amali felt like she could hear his thoughts. I'm right here, Sergei, she thought, racing towards his scent.

When she finally got there, she saw him staring up at the sky, looking pained. Her heart began to race as she happily ran towards him. "SERGEI!!!"

Sergei's ears twicthed, as he heard a familiar voice called his name. He recognized it immidietaly, it was her! His face turned into a wide smile, he turned his head and saw Amali running towards him.

- Amali! he shouted happily, and ran towards the lioness.

Amali ran over to him and nuzzled him, tears sliding down her face as she felt his presence right next to her. She pressed herself into his thick red mane and let out a slight purr.

"I thought you were gone!" she said. "Don't ever scare me like that again!"

Sergei closed his eyes and nuzzled Amali back lovingly and gently, pushing his head against hers and could hear her purr, and replied to it with a larger purr.

- I'm sorry I scared you, I promise I'll never leave you again.

"I'll see that you won't." she jokingly said.

She pushed her muzzle into his mane and stayed there like that for a while. She tried to calm down and enjoy his company.

Guess that old baboon was right after all.

Sergei laughed quietly, and smiled at the lioness.

- I love you, Amali, he then whispered to her ear.

(Now this is a good time to bring in the news that Amali is the one who'll change Sergei's life forever^^)

"I know, I love you too." she said.

She was so wrapped up in the moment she didn't notice a few bushes rustling nearby.

Sergei nuzzled Amali lovingly, and was so enchanted by her that he also didn't notice the bushes near by them rustling. He licked her forehead, and whispered to her ear:

- We'll never be apart again, I promise.

Amali suddenly heard something coming up right behind them. She pulled away.

"Stay back." she told Sergei.

She prepared herself to fight another big cat, but it was none other than Rafiki who walked out of the bushes, taking support from his stick.

Sergei took a step back, and let out a warning growl, but once he saw it was only Rafiki, he couldn't help but to let out a small laugh.

- Be careful Amali, he can smell fear, he said jokingly.
