Lark sprung back up, fists clenched, ready to fight... But only to be met by another Eraser's furry hands grabbing his head, one covering his eyes and one under his chin. Lark kicked about and lashed out as much as he could, but nothing worked. Another Eraser had strapped on something around Lark's waist to keep his wings constrained. Now the fear began to overtake him, and with the Eraser's hand over his eyes, he figured this was how Iggy felt all the time; blind and trapped with no way out.

Pascal tried to roll into an Eraser as a ball of spines, but he suddenly felt strings wrapping all around him, and when he looked to see what it was, he saw that he was caught in what looked like a giant butterfly net, with the face of a werewolf peering inside, cruelly smiling.

Before Rue could whack Jeb in the head - which she had really been looking forward too - an Eraser grabbed her. Struggling to get free, the Eraser slipped plastic cord around her wrists. Heart pounding wildly, she stepped on his foot. Yelling, he let go, but Rue was only to be grabbed by another one.

Kara's heart sunk as she saw everyone being caught, and all the Eraser's still advancing. Leering at her, three advanced. She was soon caught in a headlock, her arms held behind her back.

Jeb shook his head and tsked. "Children," he began solemnly, "If only you would realize why we must do this. It's for the good of the world. When will you learn?"

"The good of the world?!" Pascal shouted back at him, tears forming in his eyes from fear and anger. "When will YOU learn that we don't belong with you?! You should know! Of all people, YOU should know how much we need our freedom!"

"I'm afraid you have no choice." Jeb replied, giving a subtle wave with his hand, motioning for the Erasers to take them to the van they had arrived in. "Anyone else have a speech for me before your departure?" he added, annoyed.

Rue just glared at him, unable to find the words to express the roiling anger inside her.

Kara was able to think a bit more clearly, however. "I have something to say."

When does Kara not have something to say? Rue thought, exasperated.

"You're pretty ugly for an old guy, you know that? I guess that's why I haven't seen any mirrors around. ...I honestly feel sorry for you," she went on earnestly. "I mean, it must be horrible, to be a lying, traitorous creep, and be old and ugly on top of it."

Rue grinned. That was more like it. "You know, I have to agree on the old and ugly part," she said thoughtfully. "And has anyone noticed he needs to lay off the pizza?" She glanced pointedly at his stomach.

Lark chuckled, even though a blindfold had been placed over his eyes and a girdle-type thing constricting his wings. "And I thought I smelled something when I came in here. Take a crap in your Depends?"

Jeb's face reddened with anger, and the skin where his mustache was turned purple. He pointed his outstretched finger outside at the van. "Get them out of here!" he commanded the Erasers, who began changing back to their human forms as they filed outside. "You are all destined for great things, children. Trust me, I know."

Lark's two Erasers held his hands behind his back, and they shoved him forward brusquely. "We did trust you." he grumbled, unsure if Jeb heard. Lark could still hear the other Erasers shuffling about, and he sincerely hoped Rue, Kara and Pascal weren't hurt too badly. He felt a drop of something warm run down the side of his face, then down his neck, and he figured he must have had a cut or two himself.

Pascal's captor tied up the net's opening with a thin rope and sneered, being the last to march outside, holding his prize. Suddenly, Pascal remembered something he always had on him; his lighter and a Scare Tactic firecracker. Trying not to tip the Eraser off, he took out the small sphere and brushed the flame of the lighter up against it, quickly throwing it back into the house afterwards. He snickered, thinking to himself, Might as well cause trouble 'till the end.

Rue was shoved in moments after Lark, hitting the metal side interior hard. Her shoulder now throbbing on top of all of her other minor cuts and abrasions, she moved towards Lark. "You okay?" she asked softly.

Kara caught the motion, and gave a small grin. She could guess what would happen next. In three, two, one...

Lark heard Rue's soft voice close to him, and though he couldn't see her through the thick cloth, it sounded like everyone was still alive. For now, that is. Lark replied, "I'm fine, except that I can't get this dumb blindfold off. Do they think I have lazer-vision or something?" he laughed weakly afterwards, in a frail attempt to lighten the mood.

Flares erupted from inside Jeb's house, vividly colored sparks flying every which way. They weren't as dangerous as they looked, but it sure freaked Jeb out. Pascal could hear him losing it from inside, and he laughed to himself, but the joy was short-lived as the Eraser threw Pascal, still in the net, into the back of the van. There, still tangled in the strings of the net, he landed with his chin on the floor of the vehicle, his arms tied behind his back with plastic ties. He frustratedly blew a lock of golden hair from his eyes. "I believe this incident earns me my choice at a sleeping spot in the cave, as promised."

Both Lark and Pascal made Rue give a small laugh. "Pascal, you get dibs on whatever spot you like," she promised. An idea struck her; "Hey, Lark, get on your knees. I may be able to get the blindfold off." While a path to freedom still alluded her, at least she could let him be able to see.

"Ok." Lark agreed and reluctantly fell to his knees, hoping he was facing the right direction.

"So what are we going to do now?" Pascal asked, struggling to at least sit on his bottom, without the strings getting in the way of things. "Do you think they'll do what the journals said they did to our parents?"

Rue turned around, her fingers fumbling with the blindfold. Findind it, she loosened it, and slid it off. "There you go," she said, allowing a slight note of satisfaction to enter her voice.

Kara shivered at that thought, though it seemed the most likely thing. "Probably," she said.

"Thanks," Lark said gratefully, blinking his eyes a few times to help him adjust. "Much better."

Pascal, tangled in the net with one arm tied over his head, one leg tangled around the other and head stuck in one direction, laughed weakly and asked, "Can someone help me out over here?"

Lark sat down with one knee up, his bound wrists resting on it, then turned to Rue. "Have a plan B?"

"I think you'll have to work yourself out of that," Rue said, unable to help with her hands bound behind her. She did have to smile at his comical position. At Lark's question, she regretfully shook her head. "No."

Pascal chewed at the ropes, eventually breaking the one binding his head to that one direction.

Lark heaved a sigh, unsure if he expected that answer from her. "Looks like we're taking a field trip then, I suppose."
