"He's fine." Kyler admitted, hoping she was right. "They took him back to the lake afterwards." She looked at him hard, pushing the question, "Why did you do it?" She knew Ellis could have died, and even though she hated Ellis, Kyler still couldn't believe it actually happened.

Kyler looked at him sympathetically, then put her hand in his, the one he shot the fireball from. "I'm not mad." she confessed. "I just couldn't believe it. And at least now I know that if he does hurt me, you'll have my back." she smiled, then added, "Just please don't do anything rash before your training, ok? I don't want you to get hurt either."

Kyler smiled at him when he met her eyes and she replied, "Good." as a quick answer. She squeezed his hand one more time before letting go and peering at her watch. "Aha!" she exclaimed. "You've been off the radar for exactly twenty-four hours. And so have I." she laughed.

Kyler laughed weakly. "Yeah," she said, "I don't know how people will take it, especially my parents. And if I told them I was with my friend the whole time, they'll probably be even worse."

When Damien said "sleep-overs" and saw him blush, that instantly tipped Kyler off to what it could have meant. She looked at him first, confused, then blushed as well. What exactly was he inferring? She followed him out of the room, suddenly finding the setting awkward. "Yeah, you must be starving." she managed, trying to seem oblivious. "I'm not sure if Zee's home," she continued, "She was when I brought you here, though."
