Ruger growled and said "What did I do ? I did nothing to deserve death. I knew where the pack's cave was because my father founded that pack but he raised me secretly. He was the best leader that pack ever had and once he died it was handed down to lesser dogs."

Calico growled. "My father isn't low."

Ruger shook his head and said "Your father is low. Look how low he will go to take me out of the picture. He will use you to kill me, knowing that I can never kill you, Calico. Think about it, I am the true leader of that pack and not your father or his son. I will go back and take control one day over my father's pack. Killing anyone that stands in my way. That pack needs a good leader that doesn't use fear or unusual punishment or abuse to his pack."

"Wait, what do you mean? Today?"

"I didn't say today. I said one day, as in someday I will go back but I am to chicken to go back right now. I am still getting over my father's death, see, and I can't face my past right now."

"How long ago did he die?"

Ruger lowered his head and said "I was six months old when he died. So, about two years ago or something like that but he knew that your father was doing somethings that he didn't like with you and some other pups. He was about to do something about that before he sacrificed himself to save everybody that he loved and cared about."

Calico sighed. "Come on Ruger, we can run away together."

Ruger smiled and said "Lead the way, Calico. I will follow you to the ends of the Earth."

Calico nodded, runnng of, kicking sand up behind her.

Ruger smiled and ran after Calico. He soon came up beside her and asked while he running with her "So, .... where are we going to go, Calico? And what about your pups?"

Calico flashed a look at Ruger. "I'm not pregnet. You kidding me? I faked it out.

Ruger stopped and just stood there. He shook his head sadly.

"What?"
