Isn't it ironic how MLP supporters mostly hate sparkle-animals, but support pink ponies with butt tattoos? Now, I'm ALL FOR an MLP source (Spike ftw!), I'm just stating what I've noticed.

They can't stand any of the shows before this one - which is actually well animated and doesn't totally dumb kids down. Plus, the source will be for the previous generations too, but as the latest one is the most popular (with good reason), it's getting more support. And I have nothing against sparkleanimals.

Yes, it is another show that was made solely to boost sales of a toy - but many successful series have done this (Transformers, anyone?). In the early '80s with the G1 series that was simply named, My Little Pony, was everything you might expect of such a show in that time period unfortunately. Other than a few characters who were developed and a couple of occasionally good plots, it didn't have a whole lot going for it other than ponies which made young girls like me watch it. Despite this, the show and the toy line developed a sizable following that is still around today. Several years later, the second generation of the line and TV series came out and My Little Pony Tales began to air. Fortunately, this show did take a few steps forward in plot and character development, making it easier for an audience other than young girls to start enjoying the show. It also featured several more regular male characters, whereas the first series was predominantly female. The third series wasn't aired on a TV network, and was instead released as a sequence of direct-to-video episodes and movies. Unlike the second series, this one was quite unfortunately a backwards step, in that the characters themselves were undeveloped for the most part, save for a few minor personality quirks, and the stories were vague, uninteresting, and aimed solely at the young girl audience, ostracizing any possibility of a male following. Finally, we come to what I believe to be the crown jewel of the line, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This latest in the line of MLP shows began airing on The Hub TV network in October 2010, and is still going strong to this day, with a new episode every Friday at 1:30 PM (EST). Thus far, the show has proven to be a wonderful improvement on the series as a whole, with excellent story lines in an episodic manner, characters that are actually believable, and animation that doesn't make you immediately turn away from the sheer girlishness. And what else could we expect from a series made by Lauren Faust, who is known for her work on Cat's Don't Dance, Quest For Camelot, The Iron Giant, The Powerpuff Girls Movie, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls, and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends? The show exploded after being on for only a few months, and it now has a particularly large following, with more fansites popping up every day. It's even attracted a good number of male viewers (notably, many from 4chan) both on and off the internet (I know a guy in my dorm who LOVES it - and he found it before I did, XD). Their are 4 more episodes left in the first season, with the last scheduled to air on May 6, 2011. The series has been renewed for next year by Hasbro, and episodes are in production (confirmed April 2011) and scheduled to be released in December 2011. •Owner/Producing company: Hasbro Studios and Studio B Productions •(If Possible) Link to the film/series Wikipedia page: My Little Pony Wikipedia PageMy Little Pony: The Movie Wikipedia PageMy Little Pony Tales Wikipedia PageMy Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas Wikipedia Page (A DTV movie)My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade Wikipedia Page (A DTV movie)My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Wikipedia PagePensivePony's Youtube Channel (All of the Friendship is Magic series can be viewed here, for those who do not have The Hub. The best part - Hasbro is 100% okay with this.) Most of the rest of the episodes/movies from any of the previous series can also be found on youtube. •Why should we add it: Well, for one, it does have a huge following, and it's only going to get bigger as time goes on. For two, I think it's a marvelous example of how a series can have less than grand beginnings and rise to become even better, with no way to go but up. Not to mention, I've always had a childhood love of the original My Little Pony (don't ask why - I'm still not really sure) and I'm absolutely crazy about this new series. Before you doubt/hate, give it a try. I do support this idea. I have no shame!

I agree with this also, largely in part because I was promised cookies... Agrees on this agree. ...because of the promise of cookies. And MLP is AWESOME.

You'll be glad to know that I accept the idea of a MLP : Friendship is Magic Source! I haven't watched the show myself, but it seems (surprisingly) very popular, yet there doesn't seem to have an active fansite for it. I have heard good things about it; it seems like a show with a very bad premise, but a very good execution from the people who worked on it.
I'll take care of preparing everything needed and choose the staff when I come back from my vacation in one week!
(please do yourself a favor and concentrate on the newer show, though...that seems to be the one that people like)

(Rainbow Dash impersonation) Steet, you just made me squee on the inside. Thank you so much! And yes, I wanted the focus to be more heavily on the newer series, but as with the rest of the Source sites, include information on the older ones so as not to alienate fans of the older series. But I completely agree that the main focus should be on the newer, growing one. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ^.^
