Dev smiled agianst her lips and wrapped his free arm around her waist and tried to pull her closer, if it was possible. Dev suddenly decided to put a wall on Shay's thoughts, it wasn't fair that he could so freely read her thoughts, things that were supposed to be kept private.

Dev was dissapointed for a moment then the words that SHay was speaking sunk in. "Oh Shay..." he said and pulled her into a comforting hug. He stroked her hair gently and whispered "i'm not gonna let anything happen to you...if he finds out it would be my fault and i'll tell him to leave you out of it...don't worry about a thing."

Dev smiled slightly "Don't worry about a thing baby...theres no way he can hurt me..." he said confidently and put a hand on the back of her head, wrapping the other firmly around her waist.

"Why don't you just break up with him?" Dev asked gently, not wanting to get her worked up.

Dev pulled back and stared at her. His eyebrows creased, making his forehead wrinkle deeply. Then he leaned forward again and took her face in his hands. "Shay..." he said soothingly "i'm never ever gonna let him hurt you. Ever. If he does anything AT ALL you need to tell me. Okay? You have to promise me this. I won't be able to live if he hurts you..."

Dev smiled, happy that Shay trusted him. Dev's eyes grew wide as Shay kissed him, but instead of pulling away like he should, he brought her closer and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. After a moment he broke off. "Should we be doing this?" he asked, already regretting the question.

"Shay, hun, you can't have that attitude. Nathan is dangerous and you can't take that lighty. If he found out about this we'd both be in big trouble. Speaking of which, he's wondering where you are right now." And as if on cue, Dev heard Shay's phone ring. "Make something up." Dev encouraged and kissed her lightly on the forehead.
