Quote: Some of the reviewers said that the image restoration axed the quality pretty badly.
You know, LBT is their most treasured franchise, and Balto is one of their roughest failures. If they half-witted their most popular animated movie ever, what are they going to do for Balto? I've been thinking exactly the same thing as you Betawolf. This is just my opinion, but I think that Universal consider their animated films, popular or not, to be nothing more than mindless kiddie fluff. I mean, on the LBT special edition, the first 'extra' was 'how to use your remote control.' Universal does not think about the content or the audience of the film, only the amount of profit it makes. They assume that animation is just for young children. The LBT DVD was bad, but the Balto DVD was worse (from what I've heard). No widescreen, no interesting extras, poor picture quality... As one reviewer put it, 'as it is, this DVD isn't any better than the original 1996 VHS version I have.' I think that the petition is the best bet for Balto getting the treatment that it well and truly deserves. Balto isn't the greatest animated movie ever, but it's pretty doggone close.

Balto is the absolute best animated movie ever in my eyes.

I need to ask, does anyone else's copy of Balto on DVD come with a documentary? Mine does.

Yeah, it's the US release people whine about.

As far as I know, Region 1 has the documentary in fullscreen, am I wrong? According what I've read on the ice cave, the documentary wasn't on the Region 1 version. (btw, It's on regions 2-4. I made a typing error )

They Both sound like pretty good ideas. But if everyone is up for it, I'm all for the petition. Such a good series like Balto deserves a special edition.

That's got to be one of the rare occasions that the US gets the short end of the stick.
By the way guys, I heard some news which may possibly be bad: it's possible to exploit proxies to generate multiple signatures. One person can do it and sign the same petition as many times as he or she pleases. For this reason, corporations seldom take online petitions seriously. I doubt anyone has done this on this particular petition, but Universal probably won't know this.

I for one definitely would not do that, despite the fact I feel that we need more numbers for the petition (which I've recently signed ) I stumbled across this site through wikipedia My goodness having this DVD release by this holiday would be a true wonder... Say according to what I've read in wikipedia, is it true that this DVD will be packaged with the American Tale and The Land Before Time, which they both happen to be my favourite movies as well . I wonder if they are simply reusing the same DVD they published...

They are just using the previous releases of all three films, but just putting them in a package that's (hopefully) cheaper than buying all three films.
