Well,if it's too late to fix my vote,it's not that much of a big deal.

Most people that come here to BS are 10 or older so only the most Violent and sexual ones shouldn't be allowed the other ones that for example have a heavy description about only one heavy bloody scene should have a warning, pluss little kids under ten don't really read fan fics they preffer things as such as sending drawings etc but there are some members that are 12 that for example again there could be this fan fic about Kodi and Kirby being gay lovers that might have some sexual scenes described they still shouldn't read it even though they're over 10 but if the scene isn't described much then it should stay it's still there though so it should have a warning and a rating, but if they still want to read it after knowing about the rating then it's their fault, then again some kids just read it out of curiosity and there are things that even with rating shouldn't be in a kid friendly site.

No, keep the Sexual stuff off Balto Source. As for the violent stuff, I think it's ok as long as it doesn't go to far or too desciptive.

I totaly agree totaly. It would get very boring if everyone did fanfics that had 'normal' pairings. And it's FANfiction. If it would offend someone, they don't HAVE to read it.

Mixed opinion:
The best option in my view is a Forum for fics like that, but then there is the problem with checking the age.

But that could be fixed easily: We would just need a kind of general agreement, which is shown up by clicing on the foumname, that the user WANTS to see these fics.

I voted for that because romance and violence keeps a reader interested, but I don't really appreciate all the gory, and extremely sexual stuff. Although I like detailed stories, I don't think those types of things should be allowed in a kid-friendly site.

Okay, I think sexual and/or violent scenes in fanfics can be done tastefully, and I've seen examples of this in lots of fanfics. There is a fine line between what is appropriate and what is not. I agree with some other people that sexual scenes should not be vividly described on a site such as Balto Source, because a) There are some very, very young users on this site, and b) even if there are warnings plastered all over the fic, I know that a lot of kids would read anyway to find out what they are being warned against. Kids are curious, and we can't go on denying it. If there is no description of the sexual act, and the fic, for example, shows the two characters laying down beside each other and declaring their love, or something like that, it should be fine for the site. Older users will know what it means, and younger users won't be exposed to anything they don't already know about. If there can be some sort of security setting that will only let users over the age of, say, 16 or 17, read the types of fics that go into a bit more detail, that would work wonderfully, but if no such setting can be used, then yes, explicitly sexual fics should not be allowed. I would like to remind everyone that we fell in love with the movie for the beauty and innocence of the story, and not for the millions of possibilities for R-rated fanfictions.

As for the violence, it has a natural place in a story about wolves, especially the violence between warring packs. I might be wrong about this, but I know that in Julie of the Wolves, territory disputes were settled between the alphas, not involving the whole pack, and I think this is how it is in the wild. But, some of the wolves (and even dogs) in the Balto movies have been given certain "human" qualities (such as evil and jealousy in Niju and Steele) that would justify the use of "wars" rather than civilized battles for territory, and this provides for interesting fanfiction. However, with war comes blood and gore, and with that often comes some non-kid friendly fanfiction. I love pack war fanfics, but I agree that some younger members should not read some of the descriptions of wounds and death in some of them. A word of advice, think of how the fanfic would be rated if the characters were humans. A lot of live-action war movies are rated "R" (for you non-Americans, that's age 17 and up, in case the rating system is different) for the degree of injuries the characters incur, and the degree of blood/gore with which they are portrayed.

As for the moderation system, I think a good way to work on this would be to make the author have to choose a rating for the fic when he/she submits it, and if the PG 13 or R option is chosen, a mod should be obligated to read the fanfic before it is posted on the site, and make the final call. If it is not kid-friendly, it should be sent to a different section of the site that either a) only can be accessed by older members, or b) links to another site (such as fanfiction.net) where the fanfic will be posted, not at all affiliated with Balto Source. In that case, parental control settings will be able to detect that it is not from BS (a site that mine never blocked anything from because it is 'kid-friendly'), and will be able to block it if it is not in accordance with the younger member's parents' settings. If, for some reason, it is not blocked already, there should be a huge warning page in place saying "You are about to leave Balto Source. This Fan Fiction has been placed at an off-site link because it contains content not suitable for young children. This story is appropriate only for readers 13 (or 17 if it's R) and older." or something like that. Sorry if this was really long, or if I've repeated things that have already been said.

I think they should be allowed, they censored you never see actual descriptive details of the so called dirty things going on. Unless someone blantly puts a horrible dirty thing on their I think they should be allowed.

For the most part, fics are coming on that are rated G or PG.
The violent and love fics are really the only ones that I notice anymore. And for the most part there, I've seen no really threatening descriptions. Writers seem to shy away from that. But there are some...
I'll have to take more care in reading from now on.
As for the ratings, I feel that we can trust the vast majority to rate their fics accordingly.
Should something come up with the wrong rating, or with no rating when it needs one, I'll change it and tell the author.
