I think it can too. But it depends. If it's a child, for example, trying to re-enact stuff from the video games, then I undrestand because they usually don't know the difference between fantasy and reality. But if it was a grown man re-enacting a certain violent video game, then, IMO, that's actually the grown man's fault because he should know the difference between fantasy and reality.

what i think is that games arent the real problem..... i think is the education we receive at our homes what rlly makes the difference..

if we learn the difference between fiction and reality i think there shouldnt be any problem..... i think this is also were morality comes.... (something that we lack of alot these days), and also depends alot on the person mental stability.

so instead of blaming the games for those horrible events.. they should be blaming the parents of all those ppl who have killed.. the reason?.. not teaching their sons and daughters the difference between ficiton and reality, what is good and what is bad!

What do you guys think of the idea that has surfaced recently, that playing violent video games, turns out violent children?

I think it's a bunch of crap.
I mean, do you guys remember when the Columbine shootings occured, that they blamed that on the kids playing Doom.
We're not talking Doom3, with the good graphics and what not either, we're talking about Doom 1.0.
Anyone here play Doom 1.0?
I have, and if that makes you snap, you're in pretty horrible shape.
Someone is sueing Rockstar, because of a commission of violence, that they say, was brought on by the younster playing Grand theft Auto (GREAT SERIES BY THE WAY!)
I think that's crap, but what do you guys think on this?

I'm with you on this 110%!! I did a report on Violence in games and I've heard of storys where they blame GTA! Some want an excuse for doing what they did, and some are crazy! But anyway they should know the difference between real and makebelive.

Ya I agree with both of ya

If anyone knew about the Colubine Incident on April 20, 1999 some of the violent action was practiced on the computer game DOOM.

It depend mostly if the person playing the game isn't grown up their brains are like sponges something they see and think it's cool they imitate but mostly your not going to have kid playing a violent viodeogame and also it depends in the moods they are, maybe if they are angry upset mad sad and such they might get Ideas from the game and do the violent action from the game also it depens in how often they play the game if they play the game all days they have a bigger chance of doing violent acctions and if it is an old grown person who know what's good and what's not and know those game and doing that is wrong they might be less violent, so it preetty much depends.

Yes It does manly fall on the gamer playing the game not the fact in geral so the real awser in not yes or no its the gamer behind the violance!

First off, one game is not to blame for Columbine. Those kids killed people because they had been made fun of and teased. That is what drove them to kill. Also their parents where ilresponsible. They had no idea of what was happening in their own homes.

I personaly think that it is about what children learn at home. The diferance between right and wrong, fantasy and reality. What if a game is too violant, then the parents should take it away or not let it be bought. In most casses that try to bash video games typicaly the examples used are impratical because the senario uses illreasponible parents who probably don't even know what their kids favorit color is.

jazzy I agree with you on the parets being iresponsable but most crime is made by kids that do not live with thare parents and buy what games they want so it is manly the way the gamer takes in the information and process it and thare minds dicide if its realaty to them or not.

And the way they say everything they could say every game teaches something bad, I.E Midnight club 3 could teach kids to Street race, and Need for Speed can teach kids to run from the police! What worrys me is that because GTA SA they are only going to make Bland games, like what happened with the Super Bowl.

No one should blame games for this. It is the media, they show things that are realer then any game. Terroits attacks, crimals and tons of other stuff. It is the medias fault.

I heard this story about a crazy guy running from the cops and he had a shotgun and because its a sepical report it was shown on all channels even a childrens tv show. He blow hes head off and it was shown everyone watching EVEN the kids. Think about that

Later

Now were are talking. We all know that the media isn't helping at all. Heck, it's no wonder kids get so depressed these days. You can't turn on the local news without hearing about something horrible happening.
