No. That is not true. A person who posts screen shots of a movie, cartoon or documentary does not have the right to claim a copyright of it. That is a clear violation of copyright law.
Sadly, some web site administrators seem to feel that, because they did what they consider to be some horrendous amount of toil to simply "snap" a screen shot, that they're entitled to hold sway over it. It is NOT work-intensive to create a screen shot and then post it on a site. Sure, it takes up site bandwidth. But that is something the administrator CERTAINLY must realize when he or she posts graphic files (which can eat up a lot of bandwidth). It really annoys me when people who make screen shots boast or fuss about how much work they put into it, when it is - in reality - a simple process.

One could also argue that blocking the right-click would protect the copyright of Universal Pictures, so I don't really see the matter of the entire discussion.
Additionally - just because the right-click is blocked, that doesn't mean you can't save the image file. Just save the entire page, and browse for the desired image in the corresponding subfolder. Or, if you are on FireFox, you can simply browse for "media", then display and save the image.

Also Ac i love your site keep up the good work!

Yes, taking screenshots is very time expensive, I can confirm this...At least, it's much more difficult than what it seems at first. Even if I made some programs to do that quicker, it's still pretty much long to play the dvd to take every still picture you want (at least 1h to do this only), convert all pictures to jpg format and the right compression ratio, make thumbnails, upload the files on the server, make the site code, the galleries etc...

I should probably point out that I think Ac's site is incredible, and I DO greatly appreciate his efforts! I have no complaint about how he feels about that e-mail he received (which I have maintained was unkind and uncalled-for).
I was just stating some facts. Of course, my perspective on screen shots is only opinion. But I have made screen shots before, and I don't find it terribly work-intensive.
Hope you know, Ac, that I love your site and appreciate the work you put into it!

But even the general allotment of time you have described here is considered for multiple shots, is it not? And even then it is only time comsuming if you are gonna get all anal about it. Of course, I do consider that this is what some people want...but it is still not hard, whatever way you do it.... ya know talking about how hard it is to take perfect screenshots of a movie they did not create...this coming from one of the guys who accused me of stealing art... at least I draw my all my own pictures whether I draw inspiration from already existing pictures.
And why would Universal care? They make tons of money off of these movies, and you are essentially bringing them even more business. In the end they make more money from you creating this site than it would cost of their time to tell you to take their pictures down. That doesn't make it any less stealing art...considering those are the terms you used to accuse me of it.

The only time I've taken something from your site Ac, was when I emailed you concerning the real Balto images. So, I've never stolen images.
Except the freebies.

Oh please don't remove your site. I like it.

Well, Ac...
First off, I love your site, and I never found anythign wrong with it. I even went there before here.
Second, that person has no rights to say something like that. Does she OWN Balto? Cans he/she tell you what to do with your pictures. I'm pretty sure if someone who worked on Balto had a site, they'd copyright it too.
