If Universal looked at everything they did in Balto (Animation, voices, storylines, etc.) in the series, it might actually turn out pretty good. Balto was one of the greatest movies I ever saw, if they could duplicate the animation, music, and voices and come up with good storylines it would bring a ton of attention to Balto.
If they did all that then yes it would be rather good, but if they could do all of that why didnt they do it for the Balto sequels?

Now there's a question, my friend. I personally think they didn't use the same animation styles since the company that made Balto 1, Amblimation, was bought out by Universal Studios. I think Universal possibly told the people who made the sequels to use their style of animation, maybe, or it might have been because some completely different animators did the sequels, and they wanted to draw Balto, Jenna, and the other characters their own way.

The animation in the original and sequels were different. The original was 2D and the sequels were 3D in some scenes which might i say they did a bad job on.
Based on what Orion said for the Balto TV series i think that if they kept the animatin 2D like in the original, that would be good. But i highly dought Kevin Bacon and Bridget Fonda would come back to play the original voices of Balto and Jenna. But im not sure what Orion ment by keeping the same story line.

The animators teams between the original and the sequels are totally different...And it's the same for all DTV sequels.

I agree with the idea of a Balto TV series as a ploy to raise Balto's popularity, but IMO, the only way to have good stories is to use the original writers (like how they had a couple of the original writers work on WoC, which was a very good story).
Here's the basic ideas for possible story basis if a Balto TV series was in production:
- What happened to Aleu and her clan? (this would make a good mini-series to probably last a few episodes . . . no more than six at the most)
- Balto . . . after the events of WoC (you know, his growing fascination with Duke's plane and flying)
- The other four pups (Dingo, Saba, and the two *officially* unnamed ones) and their adventures with growing up and dealing with their wolf-like instincts
- Dog-sledding! (Uhh, duh?)
- Updated technology (you know, like a sign of the times sort of thing . . . since the planes were introduced in WoC and threatening to steal the mail team's jobs, what else could happen to threaten their happiness and work?)
- Inuit stuff (you know, talk about Aniu and the totems some more!)
- Possibly some background character stories (Jenna, Muk and Luk, Boris (oh yeah, we all want to hear about his story, right?), Rosy, etc.)
- Whatever happened to . . . (insert character's name here) (It's self-explanatory. No majorly big characters here, please. ^__^)
Yeah . . . that might be enough to make at least one season of a Balto series.

Thanks, SimbasGuard!
I thought they sounded like good ideas when I tought them up. I mean, these are things that us Balto fans what to know the answers to (mainly all of the Aleu fans want to know if she was truly successful in leading the clan, even though Nava said she would be a good leader), and it would be a bit better than the mass-sequels (a la LBT, if you get my drift).

Right. Too many sequels will destroy the original (most likely), and a lack of sequels causes a spark of curiosity among its fans (kinda like what's been going on here with the fanfics and all).
But if Balto was given a TV series, it would also be nice if it were made so that even a non-fan could understand the basic concept (Balto is a wolfdog that became a hero by saving his hometown in 1925, although he was considered an outcast by the locals. A year later, he becomes the father of six children, each with their own lives to live.) . . . kinda almost like the ADGTH TV series worked (my comments on that are on the ADGTH TV thread). Perhaps it would help grow the fan base some more (maybe the younger children, if that's the target audience) . . .

I think it would bother Me if a series came out about "Balto" that was a seperate continuity A good exampes of what I mean would be the "Blade" Series It dosen't deny the "Blade" movies, But It has yet to directly reference Them. Although The "Balto" Series would almost have to reference the "Balto" Movies in order to work.
Of course it would have to reference the movies! How else did Aleu, Kodi and the other pups get into the picture? And Stella? (if in any way they even put her into the series . . . probably if Boris is there and it takes place after WoC, then she's bound to be there . . .)
I rest my case. *crosses fingers if this ever happens*

This is sort of double-edged sword, sure it would bolster the fan base a lot, but if it were badly done like some other ones I've seen then...well...it won't be a good thing...
But, if the series turned out to be good (which sadly may be diffucult), then I guess Balto would finnaly get a bigger fandom like it deserves
