Come on! I'm 15 and I know that most of you guys are at least that old! What could possibly be immature about a 15 year old guy like me liking Balto and woves in general? You're parents have lost the magic of what it means to be a kid, unfortunately. Even to be a teenager. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with what interests you (though, if you're one of those into the whole "furry" thing, I must admit to a certain flesh-crawling reaction about that myself...though I've learned that some people are into it just for dress up...not for sick, pornographic anthropomorphic, homoerotic art; still, it seems a bit nerdy to me...kind of like people who play dress up for Star Wars, Star Trek and Lord of the Rings conventions, or live-action fantasy role-playing). Lots of adults go through that phase. And others retain something, some piece of the magic of youth (still others go to extremes, and end up with a mid-life crisis ). If you ask me, any adult who loses touch with what it means to be a kid, or a teen, has died inside. All that's left is an aging miser. And that's no good. It's worse when parents cannot understand or support their kids in what they enjoy (so long as it isn't destructive). Seems to me that, with what little you pointed out about what you're into, that hardly is destructive. Heck, it could lead to a career working with animals in some fashion or another...be it social or scientific.
Agreed. That "furry" thing is what they are mostly worried I will become obssessed with, actually. Still, they were worried when they saw this site, since they pressure me into showing them what sites I've been on. I showed them this site, and, they noticed that it had animated characters on it and they thought that they were the same style as those other sites you mentioned. (I will not lie to you guys, so I will admit that I have been to those sites before, but I did stop going to those rather repulsive sites because my parents busted me big time when they found out not too long after that thing started.)
I truly agree with the carreer opportunities for working with animals. I think I would like to be like mabye a wolf biologist someday, but if that means I have to like dissect one... yuck, that is one thing I cannot do to any animal. A way I'm starting with that is since I take photoraphy, I'll be going to the Wolf Sanctuary in my home city, which should have lots of photo opportunities there, despite its distance away from my house. I'll be doing that when I can drive by myself, which should be in another month or so. I sure hope they don't object to that. If they do, then God knows what will happen.

The 10-year old was adopted recently) really hate the stuff I do on the internet, as they despise Balto, wish they were smart enough to troll around on the Wolf project to make it shut down, really don't like my art, and worst of all, they hate wolves and want them extinct. But what they do is even more irritating. Every time I have something open that has to do with wolves, Balto, or the Wolf movie project, is close it when I'm not around and bring up some anti-Balto or anti-Wolfmovie page or a Kill-the-Wolves online petition or something like that. Even worse, whenever my parents get involved in this, they stick up for my brothers and claim that we have "different passions" and since we have to share a computer, some of the stuff that they "enjoy" might be there and I have to deal with it. Jeez, just talking about this makes me mad at them.
Good GOD. Well, anything your two brothers feel about wolves and dogs, or Balto, would have been taught to them. They're too young to have an informed decision (no matter what they might think). And they may have learned that very attitude from your parents. Or some idiotic teacher or other adult who sympathizes with sheep herders, who make a bigger fuss about wolves than actually is necessary.
That's just sick.

Wow Swords I've noticed recently just how similar the two of us are in likes and dislikes. As for the internet deal a huge stroke of luck fell my way almost exactly one year ago. Due to Hurricane Katrina (That being one year ago today) I needed a computer for school out of town so my mom bought the one I'm using now. Before AOL's gardian feature allowed by parents to see every site I went on so I had stopped coming here and visited sparingly until I just snapped and started visiting the site again. But anyway the new computer came with the greatest invention I know a built-in wifi adapter No more AOL for me so now I have a ton of online freedom (that i'm carful not to abuse). I suppose it was just a lucky roll but I won the battle and the war.

That is almost as stupid as parents not accepting their gay/bi children. They always tell you not to grow up fast and when you don't its the other way around...Man! all this stuff just gets so confusing for their children, as most of us know Sylver wrote: Wow, even though your parents think you're immature, they're actually the immature ones. Man that is just ridiculous, at such a young age to hate animals so passionatly i just have to wonder, WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOUR BROTHERS BEING TAUGHT?!!! I think your parents may have rocks in their heads? It sounds silly to support negativity of your positive, more free flowing imagination.
I am sick and tired of everyone trying to mold everyone else, we are all going to develope in different ways and unless their behaviour is dangerous or perverted they should be left alone with minimal guidance
The world is ruined...and that was the easy part

Your parents are mad about that? Wow. And to think that you could like street drugs, promiscuity, and horrific deplorable violence instead... Or worse, the animal site could be about loving animals in a very sick way... Your parents are LUCKY! They should at least be thankful.

XiaolinWolf wrote: Just ignore you parents even if they do complain to much
Now that's completely unreasonable.
There are a few certainties that every kid must face, until at least their 18th birthday:
1. Parents aren't perfect, but they are STILL your parents
2. Their house, their rules
3. At a certain point, compromise is good
4. Ignoring your parents will only lead to you losing...or getting thrown out of the house. Or into worse trouble than that.
5. While every human being has certain inalienable rights in enlightened and democratic society, minors still do not enjoy the rights which adults do. And they shouldn't. They don't have the life experience to properly and responsibly handle certain rights. Not to say there aren't irresponsible adults out there, but that is an entirely different matter.
We've seen what happens in a society when parents are either too permissive (or simply don't care, or worse still, ignore their kids)...a rise in crime (especially violent crime), drug use and a decline in the basic morality of society...bad kids end up making bad adults.
(Oh, I can just imagine the responses now...about how doing drugs isn't bad, and how adults are just as bad, and how kids ARE entitled to every right that adults are. LOL. But folks, let's not ruin this thread by drifting too far from the author's subject, hmm? And I'm NOT going to be drawn into a debate about it. I've said it, and that's all I care to say on this subject.)
