I agree with everything everyone posted on page 1, so I won't re-hash it (like most folks did in their own posts). Like Tibb-Wolf, I DO like the spiritual stuff, I just think it's entirely out of place for a movie about dogs and wolves. But I think I can forgive a couple of things:
1. Boris being "a plank". Well, they brought in a new person to play him (Charles Fleischer...a veteran voice talent for cartoons. And he voiced Boris again, better this time, in Balto 3. Incidentally, did anyone else notice that both actors, who voiced Boris, have something in common? The first one to voice Boris was British actor Bob Hoskins. And then American Charles Fleischer...actor, voice talent and alternative artist...voiced him for the next two. They both appeared in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"! Yep...Bob Hoskins was Detective Eddie Valiant, and Charles Fleischer did the voices for Roger Rabbit, Benny the Cab, and Greasy...whom I think was one of the weasel toon cops). Charles Fleischer may have not had much to work with in the first one...because normally he's quite good. But I think he improved by Balto 3.
2. Balto being the only other character, from Balto 1, to have any major screen time in this one, and it not being focused on Balto himself despite the movie bearing his name. In fact, this movie is as much about Balto as it is about Aleu. Well, the cartoon version of Balto anyway. Balto is finding out about himself in much the same way that Aleu is...and this is what gives him his wisdom and confidence, I think, by Balto 3 (a movie I liked a lot better than Balto 2).
I also like the skills of Maurice LaMarche MUCH better than Kevin Bacon, in voicing Balto. Kevin Bacon may be a good actor, but he cannot seem to emote very well when just using his voice. He's barely better than Kevin Costner in that regard! But Maurice LaMarche (another cartoon voice talent veteran) brought such EMOTION to Balto...such gentleness, wisdom, tenderness and kindness (and yet, such authority), that his portrayal really impacted upon me very profoundly. I could actually imagine meeting that Balto...his portrayal was so remarkable and "alive". Especially by Balto 3. In my eyes, LaMarche stepping in (I guess when Bacon either couldn't, wouldn't, or the production company didn't have the budget to hire him for this sequel) was the best move that could have been made.

Like so many people said, I hate it because the animation was horrible in comparison to the first movie(but if I'd never have seen the first, I'd think the animation was good), the spiritual magic stuff was very corny, and also, the songs were terrible in my opinion.

It just wasn't as good as 'Balto'. Yes, sequels tend to not be as good as their predeccesors, but it was disappointing because it could have been better. Plus, there were funny parts in Balto. In Wolf Quest, I don't remember any parts being funny. I like a little humor.
I really dont beileve that you can see humor in Balto 1. I really don't see problems with the animation. Yest the spirutual stuff was retarded, the plot was not original. BUT, the Balto 1 movie is very VERY loosely based on the real Balto. Was the plot for Balto three original? No. None of the movies are close to having an original plot. Balto Two was my favourite by far. The music was OK, and I didn't see personality change. The drawing style seemed slightly different, though.

Reasons I disliked it
1) Poor animation
2) white eyed balto
3)flat plot
4) flat characters
5) lack of jenna
6) Balto was a side character, there is a reason its called Balto
7) The main character (Alue) was unintresting.

I point this part of one of my earlier posts out for clarification, Roxas. If you really take the time to observe the plot in Balto 2, sure...it does focus on Aleu's "journey of self discovery". But Balto is not a bit player. He shares equal time with Aleu in this, or nearly so. In Balto 2, he's as much on a journey of self-discovery as Aleu is...and he's being helped along by Aniu. This story bridges the gap between the shy, unsure-of-himself Balto of the first movie, and the wise, confident, humble and experienced Balto of the third movie.
In that respect, I disagree with everyone here who has a negative opinion of Balto 2. Apart from its failings (animation quality, scripting, and so on), the plot is not as bad as some of you are making it out to be. You have to look deeper.
