Why want a Balto 4 so bad? Just to say how much their voices changed, how they changed, and how bad the animation was? =/ Trust me, its going to be bad animation, and I am sure of that. .-.; Just as bad at Balto 3 or 2 if not worse.

I don't understand. Why is everone so against a new sequel?

It seems everyone here is happy with the Balto 4 fan project. So, could you tell me : What's the difference? Why can't you consider the sequels as fan projects, too? After all, "Official" doesn't mean anything when it comes to different teams working.

I cant wait until the fan project comes out! HAH! I laugh at Uni! We'll prove just how fanatical we can be, and that you dont need a big studio to make a production! *sticks out tonge at them and wags tail in a playful challenge towards them* wink.gif

No offense to the B4 team, but : as much good the fan project can be, it will never be up to the standard of a 4 millions dollars film. (...except for the soundtrack maybe  ) Also remember that they can only make a trailer of a few minutes, not a whole film.

I see people saying "wow, great, incredible" etc to the B4 fan project, to the fanarts, the fanfics,... but at the same time everyone seems to be disgusted about the idea of an official Balto 4. To me, it isn't what I call being objective, and not fair to the team behind the sequels.

I'm sure that if B2 or 3 were fan projects, everyone would say "Wow, that's the most awesome things I've never seen"...

Wow! Well said, Steet! You're right, of course. People have been very critical of the sequels...often more than is reasonable, in fact. And some have given ridiculous blanket condemnations of those sequels. That's completely unreasonable...especially when they're prepared to shower the fan authors of a Balto 4 trailer with kudos and congratulations simply because they are established members of Balto Source. Of course, I don't mean to disparage on the people working on the trailer. I'm sure it's going to be quite good, and very entertaining! But the people at Universal Pictures also put in a lot of effort and time towards the sequels, whether people like them or not. Criticism of them is one thing...but some people here (and elsewhere), who are rabidly loyal to just the first Balto cartoon, have been totally unreasonable and idiotic about the two sequels and their characters (and even the changes in the other characters...some of which were necessitated by circumstances beyond their control, like voice talent). I wonder if they'll dare to be as opinionated about this fan-based trailer, if they don't like IT?

Still, it will be the vision of a small group of people, and others may find that they do not like or concur with that group's thoughts on what a Balto 4 movie should be. Or they might think it's awesome. Or they might not care either way. Though I would respect Balto Source members if they actually gave their honest opinions of it (and were allowed to, without undue criticism or arguing...as sometimes happens here when people are brave enough to speak their minds...from those who felt differently) - positive, indifferent OR negative. Of course, if they don't like it, they should at least say so in a mature, courteous way. And not resort to petty criticism.

I think the problem is this : you don't know the people who worked on the sequels, that's all. I do know them a bit (I've talked to Phil Weinstein, director of the sequels, DWK the associate producer, and Adam Berry the soundtrack composer) And they are all people "like you" : the teams who are making films are NOT interested in money, and they like what they are doing.

Don't confuse the artists and the marketing people, it's not the same thing at all. When I say "Universal", I mean : the marketing people, the ones who take the decisions. Not the artists, who go from one company to another nowadays, anyway.

True. But they don't deserve some of the base and silly blanket criticisms thrown at them, and the works they produced, anymore than the folks working on this fan-based trailer would. People work hard on this stuff. And not EVERYONE agrees with those harsh criticisms we often see leveled here towards Balto 2 and 3. Especially Balto 2.

NO ONE deserves that kind of criticism...not when they're working hard to produce a product like that.

yeah...but, contrare to Balto; the first Land Before Time SUCKED!!!!

At least the makers of THAT film (Steven Spielberg, the REAL maker of Balto) didn't go to far with the sequels. Other people from other companies took the copyright and that's how it started. I think they should of stopped on the second and that's it! :?

Er...well, Universal Pictures and Amblimation CO-OWNED and CO-PRODUCED Balto 1. No other entity except Universal Pictures (their animated features department) continued with the sequels (of which there are two, not just one).

But yes, the bleeding out of the Land Before Time scenario, with all those lame sequels (none of which I ever wanted to see...I only saw the first movie, which was awesome!), was just plain stupid. Of course, we're talking about cartoons made for children. YOUNG children. You pre-teens and teenagers probably should expect to be disappointed. Those cartoons were not made with you in mind as a target audience. Nor adults. They were designed for young children...who have a simpler palate for cartoons, and lower expectations.

I guess that's a fair statement! Heh heh. It's not to say that teenagers and adults cannot enjoy cartoons meant for kids. Shucks...(LOL)...anyone who allows the "kid" in them, their "inner child", die completely is probably dead inside anyway.

Oh and another thing, what makes everyone so sure that the creators of the sequels are not interested in making money? What's the point of making sequels? To make money. I don't believe for a second that EVERY SINGLE member of that team in not the least bit interested in making money. It is complete and utter nonsense. Besides, they make these sequels because that's their JOB to make them.

Many think I diss the sequels for no reason. I have a reason, criticism is SUPPOSED to make someone think "Hey! I need to prove that person wrong!" And have THAT kind of motivation to do better. (And they have not proven me wrong about the cons about the sequels.)

I rather disliked the sequels very much, but I am working on this Balto 4 project FOR FREEEEEEEE. I'm doing this for free! WE'RE doing this for free. Would you work a second job for free?? Geez, no respect. We're getting paid NOTHING and look how successful it is. Sure, we won't be able to make it an entire movie's length, but that's just because we have no money and are making to money from this.

Maybe those who DO like the idea of a Balto 4 fanproject more than an official Balto sequel know what it's like to feel like a classic they've grown to know and love has been torn to shreds and want to see it end with people making it who actually care about the thing that started it all more than those making money off it. AND maybe they want a sequel to end all sequels so that they don't have to deal with these "lack of story" sequels anymore.

Because no matter what these "professionals" do, they're going to make money no matter HOW good or bad a job they do. And those who hate this project, really have no good reason to (and if you do, I would like to hear it!)

And as for those getting ready to say "Well animating isn't that easy! You dont know what it's like!" BS! I do and there's no excuse for PROFESSIONALS to make a sequel as bad as WQ or WoC. Now, do I think Balto 1 didn't deserve a sequel? In a way, yes, but they were bound to make a sequel for it anyway.

But forget the animation, forget the anatomy, forget the all-artistic VALUE of a cartoon: the LEAST they could have done with these sequels is make the plotline GOOD. Yes, it's true, parents are crazy and want their kids to see STRICTLY G-RATED movies, but honestly, how many times have you heard the word "die" used in WQ? Not very kid-appropriate if you ask me, wow. I would say something else about how you all stick up for these sequels and say "how good" they are, but I dont feel like getting flamed today.

I just needed to point out that basically the money the people used/made to make the Balto sequels was blood money. There were so many ways they could have made these sequels better and actually relate more to the original story, and they failed to do that, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION.

Caaaaaaaaaaaaat...you're so IRASCIBLE! LOL! I love it!

Of COURSE they're in the business to make money! If they weren't, they wouldn't have made the first Balto movie!

But "blood money"? I dunno...I think you're a little off the deep end on that one. LOL.

Well, blood money might be over exaggerating a TAD. But messing with Balto is almost as bad as messing with a fairy tale. Like when Disney created Crinderella 2. YOU CAN'T CONTINUE A FAIRY TALE! What happened after Cinderella 1? SHE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER! That's it! Nothing alse happened! She was happy for the rest of her former-house maid days!

Same thing with Balto, which the first movie was based on a true story, know what happened after Balto saved Nome? I'm sure you do, cuz you are the mod of "The true story" section. He got sold and was basically abused and then was rescued by.....someone, kids or something, I don't remember, but he sure as heck didn't imagine some raven leading him somewhere. The way they made Balto 2, basically made everything about Balto 1 pure garbage. In my personal opinion.
