I like the books they give us at school. 'The Outsiders' was really good; something I wouldn't normally read, but it was good. I love 'The Giver' and 'The Lottery Rose'; they offered a glimpse of things I'd never really thought about before. This year, though, so far we've picked our own books to read, and I read 'White Fang.' Good book, but kind of violent! In summary, I usually like the books they give us at school.

Odd. I chose the same book to do a book report on. Had no idea what it was about but i saw it was written by Jack London so i figured i'd give it a shot. So far this year, the books we've read havn't been to bad. My reading teacher lets us do 10 mins of silent reading at the beginning of the period every day. It's pretty nice. Im not going to complain about any of the books we've read, but The Sound of Thunder has been the best so far. It's basically about hunters going back to the time of the dinosaurs and hunting them.

All the books I'm given at school bore me to death because there's no action or it just plain stupid such as the newest I had to read the boy,Walt, 14 was being chased by some guys who wanted the sled dogs back in which Walt stole from them and then the lead dog got shot and he just put it to the side like it didn't matter it was based on a true story but I mean how can you leave a dying dog behind?Unless your a racist or something because animals are humans just cuter and furrier

It's not uncommon for a sleder to leave behind a dying dog. But normally they don't let it die on its own. If the dog is too weak or can't go on, they put the dog down and continue on. A dog would be too much weight to pull around on a sled. It'd tired the dogs left out quicker and it'd only make their trip take longer. Im not saying it's really a good thing, im just saying how it goes.

Let's see.....the only books I actually enjoyed reading at school were last year in the 8th grade. They were "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton and "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London (which is the same book that sparked my love for wolves and Alaska  ). Before and after that, I hated the stories we read, like "The Day No Pigs Died" and "Stargirl" in 7th grade, and "The Old Man and the Sea" which I'm reading right now in 9th grade. Those stories bored me so badly I wanted to burn them.
There's actually one book I just finished reading about ten minutes ago for a book report that is now my absolute favorite book! It was optional, so I don't know if it really counts. Most of you have probably heard of it. It's "The Sight" by David Clement-Davies.

I love to read! school books are okay every now and again, but some of them can be boring, but my vote is yes.

I've read many short stories during middle school. THe last book we read was one flew over the cuckoo's nest, intresting, strange and somewhat disguting.

Hmm.. I liked Holes but then we watched the movie and it destroyed the book. Right now we're reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. That's a weird book but quite good. I'm enjoying it, I guess.

Haha!! You want a book for school, try reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. There are more literary elements in that book than Antigone and Julius Caesar combined. But now, we're starting a new year, and I'm hoping this will come with it some new ones...

All the books I can remember reading for school:

Antigone
Julius Caesar
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
Dante Aligheri's THE INFERNO
Fahrenheit 451
Animal Farm
Ayn Rand's ANTHEM
The Great Gatsby
The Sound of Thunder
The Pedestrian
Of Mice and Men
Frankenstein
The Giver
a few generic anthologies
The Odyssey
Thoreau's SELF-RELIANCE
