Well... you shouldn't post stuff on the Internet that belongs to you or a person you know personally without any form of legal counter-attack. Lets just say art theft is what the artist deserves without it...
Copyright papers are a good start. Basically there are many ways to keep theives off you and if they strike, you can bite them back in the 'a-s-s' by the good ol' court system. But that is if you are an adult- so if you're under 18 and your work is good, say "bye-bye" to it- as it will probably be changed to all extent.
...and now we see why the Internet is mostly intended for a mature audience these days. (because legal issues are all the rage today!!!)
EDIT: As for a vote, I say "No, I don't think so" because: Hey! I honestly don't care. I put legal protection on all my characters and I don't go around posting my art on public forums like the millions of idiots that do. I personally hate MySpace, so I'm not supporting it, but what I will say is,
"Good Job MySpace! I'm glad you did something useful. Maybe people will stop blantantly posting their art around without first realizing that someone will just 'borrow' it."

Those people should HAVE to get rid of the art. It's not their's in the first place. Now, I don't hate all MySpacers as some of my friends have myspaces and they don't abuse it. But these so called "Balto fans" are gonna get what coming to them one day.
