The only difference is that the movies are known. Some artists are not known very well so if someone copies off of them they can steal the credit for whatever they copied, whereas copying a screencap you can't steal the credit.

I saw one artist that is on BS that was even once in favorites that clearly traced drawings from the Wolf movie site. Or atleast, colored over it. I'll show them to you steet and see what you think. Or someone who is really firmiliar with the wolf movie production.

She didn't ask for permission to make those drawings, I think that is enough to consider it as art theft.

Tracing, references, what's the difference? both of them don't require any talent, allowing this is just "opening a door" for art theft, either YOU make it or it's not art.
This is not my bussiness so I'll stop there.

Ok, so I was wondering what steet thought of this, and he told me to post it on the forums.(although I wasn't sure if you wanted me to make another topic for it) I don't get it though!

Look:

http://baltosource.timduru.org/affArt-l ... st-18.html
They did not give credit to Wolfmovie.com for using the pose, but...

http://baltosource.timduru.org/affArt.p ... =243&st=18
they did for this one.

See, the first one look exactly (besides the color and "fixed" features) like this picture from the Wolf movie site:
http://www.wolfmovie.com/story/luna.php

I'd just like to understand why someone would put credit on one and not the other.

I don't understand...Why would 'this certain artist' need to use the poses? They have great art already.

Uncredited one removed, I'm so sick of this art theft. I've taken atleast 5 galleries off just chalk block full of it! Yet they deny it even when I show pictures and ask them to remove it nicely.

I think it's silly, it shows a complete lack of imagination on their part and I can't believe they deny it even when the original pic/pose is shown to them, seriously, they all act like they are 2 year olds that have been found out after they've done something wrong with the "I did'nt know" or "it was'nt me" routine, my little brother is'nt as childish as that.

Actualy a ref is were you just use the pic for help. While tracing is were you put the paper over and draw it.

Yeah...even I used reference when I wasn't very experienced in drawng...but I still gave credit (if it was that noticable that I copied) but in this case, yeah, those artists deserve recognition. I advise you take that inter consideration, bud.

In this case the refference seems very similar to the original drawing, anyways my point was that in this case there was no difference, I couldn't explain myself good enough, Refences are good for people who are still lerning how to draw, but if every ref were like this, then it would be tracing and altering.

i'm not defending anyone or anything, and i don't think what i'm about to say really applies to the situation, but think about it. there are millions of artists around the world, and people are bound to have the same ideas, or close to it. similarites are going to appear. also, people get influenced by others' art. this isn't nessecarily a bad thing, but the key is to not get too influenced. if someone does, they do need to talk to the original artist and get permission and give credit. but once again, similarities are going to happen by coincidence (but not nessecarily in this situation. as i said before, i don't think the "coincidence" factor is a part of this situation.) it's too bad that things like this happen, but they do. people just need to realize their mistakes, admit them, and learn from them.

Since the problem has been resolved I'm going to lock this. If anyone wishes to discuss using references for art in another topic go right ahead.
