You're thinking of Hob Goblin. Norman Osborn became Green Goblin, now Harry Osborn is more of just following in his fathers footsteps by becoming the Green Goblin himself. I'd never seen the Sandman before, so either he's in a comic issue i havn't heard of yet, or they created him for the movie.
Now, as for the symbiote: YES!!! Finally they use it. I knew venom was going to be in the movie and played by Topher Grace, but i didn't think they were going to acctually follow the comic and have Spiderman become it's host. Where they show him outside in the rain, his costume is rather dark. But they made his costume a little more darker for the 2nd movie and I thought it was just because it was so dark outside. Because of the nightfall and storm clouds. . .anyway, as soon as they showed on the preview "Can any man fight the darkness" then the black liquid starts to show, i knew what they were doing. I literally did say "Oh no they didn't". The symbiote has always been my favirote part of the spiderman franchise.
Im guessing they followed it alot more than movies usually do because at the end of the trailer you see Spiderman hanging upside down and he's in his red and blue costume in his reflection, that's when he wakes up and discovers his costume change and his new strenght. The symbiote uses his body as a host and it also enhances Spidermans powers. You saw where he was lying in his bed, then that inky looking stuff that is the Symbiote starts crawling up his arm, well that's where the symbiote first takes to Peter's body. The downside to the Symbiote is after awhile, it will eventually take over it's hosts body completely. It also causes Spidey to become more violent. Im supposing it has an effect to his ego as well or something since you heard Mary Jane's voice say 'What's wrong with you?"
Where you saw Topher Grace looking up and saying 'Parker' that's Eddie Brock. The eventual Venom. Once the Symbiote leave Spiderman's body, it needs a new host. So it moves on to the next body it finds. It end up being Eddie. Eddie Brock is basically another photographer for the Daily Bugle. He's basically really jealous of Peter because he keeps bringing in these awsome photos of Spiderman. Which we all know is all J Jameson cares about putting in his newspaper. Always front page with him and all that. Even though he's always saying Spiderman is a villain.
Any confusion? lol, sorry for any spoilers i might have just given away.
