Just a heads up: I don't really like Green Day, since they've always been a skater punk band in my eyes, and all the skater punks listen to them around here.

Anyways, This country is influenced by the media. I wouldn't go so far as to stereotype everybody that lives in this country by saying that they are influenced by the news. The reason news is the way it is, is because the typical human mind these days would rather see explosions and people getting shot, instead of good news. Most of this society is driven off fear and hatred, look at Middle Easterners, my uncle is from the middle East, and I have to tell you, he's a cool guy. A whole group of my friends are from Bosnia and surrounding vicinity, and they're an awesome group of people.

News is all violence and death...and weather these days.

I'm a big Bush fan yet I love Green Day. This song is very insulting in some parts but the thing about the media is very very true. Sad to say it

but srsly.. it may not be true to everyone but that's just their opinion. but in my opinion i agree with it and it may be a little over dramatic but they stand up for what they believe in and that's awesome. <3 nuff said

Same here. I actually hate being thought of as a stupid, fat, stereotyping, redneck, gas-guzzling country that seems to not care for the environment. I swear if this keeps up, I'm moving to Canada or somewhere like that, probably where there are wolves...

Greenday died with that song, now they are just manufactured mainstream trash, they were good back in the day but now... bleh

I like the song but I did feel sorry for all the americans that might've been offended, my mum said it was mostly true (I played it in the car) and it was a good song, I'm moving to Canada soon anyway, from Uk to Canada, hmm....

i think you're confusing "American Idiot" with "American Pie".

Know about that movie, never seen it. Never will Anywho, I'm an anime fan and I blast this song any time I get ticked at the people who write the dub versions.
