They are already killing it, in fact. An animated character is only alive when there are new stories to tell, or at least when the character makes new appearances, wherever it can be.

Oh, and I am thinking sensibly about and yeah it might just be a movie but it's the best movie ever! They had better not! I would be right there protesting with you girl!! I would be very sad... After bitting off the heads of the directors that is.
I'm with tibb and Whitewolf!

My sentiments aren't listed on the poll. I agree that if it was done very carefully and with all the weight that it would call for, it could make for a very emotional scene. I don't necessarily enjoy character deaths, but I enjoy when a character is powerful enough to pull at my emotions when anything happens to them. So if it was done RIGHT and they made a big deal out of that scene to the end, I wouldn't mind.
Then again, I'm cursed in that my favorite character always dies. >_<

I personally would be quite sad to see Balto die, while it is true than Balto himself is an animated character and thus only a series of drawings. The character is an extension of real emotions and expressions and because of that we, as people, have something to connect to emotionally. That's the real power of animation, to make us care about a character even if they are fictional. I think that the ideals that Balto (and for that matter other characters in the film) embodies are powerful and positive, so the idea of losing that in any form is a sad and profound experience. That said, the character and the ideas which gave birth to him are continued everytime someone produces a music video, draws a picture, tells their friends, writes fiction, watches the movies etc. In that way, Balto himself can never really die, you can't kill an ideal.
Of course I may be grossly overanalysing the situation, but I think what makes us fans of these films (and any film in fact) goes deeper than just an appreciation of the aesthetic, it strikes a chord with us on some level and that's why our enjoyment endures long after the film, characters and story have been forgotten by others.
That's my two cents anyway ^^ What does everybody else think?

I'm with ya Lioncourt, Balto has so many fans that have totally connected with the movie and the characters, thats why there are 1448 registered users on this site alone ( so far ) and there are loads more unspoken Balto fans out there, it would be such a shame if universal did kill off Balto, and also with him still alive in the movies the door is still open for more movies ( not too many though ) and if they do kill Balto off I'm still gonna protest outside universal coz even though he's only a cartoon, a fictional character he's still a big part of my life and probably most of the people on this site, he is also an inspiration and if younger children watch the movis because their parents or older brothers and sisters have more and more people will like Balto and if they get rid of him he will just fade away into a movie legend and will be forgotten about, as long as plenty of loyal fans continue to fight his cause Balto will stay around and as long as people are interested universal should'nt (by rights) think about killing him off! BALTO FOREVER!!!

You know, now that I think of it, I think that it might be really stupid of the producers to do that in the next Balto movie. I think that it might cause Universal to lose money because nobody who is a fan of Balto would want that, and therefore they would be less likely to see the movie, or even buy it, or rent it even.

I honestly wouldn't care what happened. Since i'm not a fan anymore for one reason, and two, i'm not the one who wrote it/directed it. So, whatever happens happens.
