Then, once Fox is safe James spirit disappears. It never was mentioned in the game that James was killed, just his fate, so Fox just assumed he's dead. And if James was dead, why did he show up in Assualt? If that aploid queen thing could only take over living things, it must be really strong if it could take over something that's dead.
But, Fox knows that his father is dead in Assault.
Hmm... okay, maybe I was wrong then. Maybe his father wasn't dead in Star Fox 64.
James could have been attacked and killed by the aparoids in the time between Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Assault. It is possible that Fox could have gotten word of his father's death but not who or what did the killing.

Aparoids were trying to trick fox into giving up nothing more. his father is dead, they jsut imitated his dad to try to manipulate him

That could be possible.
I don't know, I just think it'll be a good twist in the story if in the next game you have a dog fight with James.

I love SF 64... its only fault is that you either play through the whole game, or start over the next time. But it has many paths to take, different objectives, some good music, and a simple storyline
I also love Assault... the graphics are beautiful, the music got a makeover, and some of it was quite dramatic. Its major flaw though, was that it was TOO SHORT. That damages the replay value... I liked the story a lot and it could have been developed further if given the chance. Ah well.
(And btw, I think the queen Aparoid was just projecting memories back at Fox of people he knew... messing with his head, nothing more)

Okay, I've got some info for the new game.
As I said before (or if I haven't here it is) Star Fox DS's official name is Star Fox Command.
It will have a one player mode, a multi player mode over LAN (DS to DS), and a multi player mode over WFC (Nintendo Wi Fi Connection).
The one player mode is 30+ missions long. All of these missions are in "All Range mode" or free flying in an area.
The story is as followed: The Star Fox team has split. It's only Fox McCloud and ROB on the team. But when some flying fish like enemies are seen coming for the acidic oceans of planet Venom, the other members of the team rejoin to fight back. ... ... ... ... Fox McCloud dumps Krystal so that she won't have to follow Fox and risk her neck. (I'm dumping you to keep you safe type deal)... ... ... ...
The way the commanding part of Star Fox Command is the new strategic part that happens between the missions. You have a set number of rounds. Each round you get fuel, which you use to draw a line on the map to make your ship move. As you move, the enemies do to. You have to fight these to defend Great Fox while you move to your destination.
The multi player part of the game is big. It's not the main focused of the game like what we saw with Metroid Prime Hunters but it still holds it's own.
LAN play (multi card) and WFC play is how it going to work. It is said the LAN download play (single card) will be available but it's not confirmed.
LAN play will have a Dogfight mode, which up to eight players can shoot each other out of the sky. From the looks of it, there seems to be a second mode of play. This mode of play (I guess it's going to be called Command) will use that strategic element from the one player mode.
WFC play will have a Dogfight mode, which only up to four players can shoot each other out of the sky.
For multi player, player will be able to pick from a pool of 25+ Star Fox characters and ships.
The controls are really simple, or at least look simple. The face buttons (X, Y, A, B), shoulder buttons (R, L) and all four directions on the pad with be used to fire the laser. You use the touch screen to steer, boost, break, loop, U turn, and barrel roll the ship as well as fire the smart bomb.
Here's how it works:
Steer: move the stylus on the touch screen. Just like in Metroid Prime Hunters.
Boost: double tap the top half of the touch screen.
Break: double tap the bottom half of the touch screen.
Loop: Touch the icon on one of the sides of the radar on the touch screen.
U Turn: Touch the icon on one of the sides of the radar on the touch screen.
Barrel Roll: Sharply slide the stylus from side to side on the touch screen.
Smart Bomb: You don't have to aim with you ship! just drag and drop the bomb from the side onto the area where you want it to go on the radar.
My last thing is that it will first come out on August 28th, 2006 then it will come out in early September. Still unclear which country will see the August release and which will face the September release or if both USA and Japan will get it at the same time. The UK will have to wait until the holiday season to get the game.

Rusty the Fox wrote: Yup, that new ultra bright screen will make the game really look good.
That game's multi player mode is going to be best fun. Big time if you're able to get on WFC (again: Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection).
With WFC, you'll be able to play with people through the internet, right? And not just a local person you're standing next to?
(Sorry I ask stupid questions. I'm accustomed to hearing "Infrastructure Mode" instead of WFC. )

Yup! That what it is.
Most people still think that something like this will cost money, like a monthly fee, but Nintendo has made it free.
Go to http://www.nintendowifi.com and they will tell you how it all works... or you can ask me. I have Wi Fi access in my home so I can put it in a simple way if you need help.
Just so that you all know, these are the games that I know of that have WFC online play:
Mario Kart DS*
Animal Crossing Wild World*
Tetris DS*
Metroid Prime Hunters*
LostMagic
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Star Fox Command**
*I have this game
**Yet to be released
