Because Ive seen screens and videos for both, and PS3 has been less than stellar. Blu-ray is laughable, no game uses the space blu-ray provides. I have a feeling im gonna see another Divx player in the making here. UMDs wont catch on either. Sonts choice of storage has not been the greatest. HD-DVD is going to reign supreme, due to the fact that HD-dvd players play dvd's and well are just more for the everyday person.

Dude you do know that most people said that about DVD's. Blu-ray is just the new thing thats going to make the other thing (DVD's) obsolete. And every new thing that comes out is going to be wayy expensive. DVD's were and Blu-ray will be too.

I won't buy it. I'd rather buy a game system that's built just to play games. I'd rather save up a few extra hundred dollars and just get a computer, considering that's what the people at Sony are calling the PS3.

Blu-ray disks are very expensive to begin with. And its not in a dominent market. HD-DVD's can be played on normal DVD players. Just without HD. Blu Ray has no backwards compadable...as i said..i smell DIVX player rehash. (If your wondering, DIVX players battled against DVD's and lost terrible.)

Like i've said people thought Tapes would never go out, then came DVd's and it was around the same price for the players like $600-$800. And look now people are buying DVDs insted of Tapes. I can see people buying the $600 playes the frist day. Then later on they will drop in price.
Most likely for a while they will make movies in Blu-ray and DVD format, then they'll switch to Blu-ray.

The idea of Divx was that you would buy low-cost discs that you could take home and use for a few days, after which time they would "expire" and become unusable, unless you paid an additional usage fee. Unlike DVD's, which consumers can buy and use for as long as they like, Divx discs kept control of the media directly in the hands of the media distributors.

That's where the rippers and the pirates come in. XD Although the possibilities of forging are getting more and more limited. I think that's the main reason why Sony wanted all-new technology with PS3 -- Hackers may be able to find a way to rip games off of the DVD discs used in most PS2 games, and restore them in emulators so people can play them for free...

And i hope u guys saw..one of the Ps3's at E3 froze *chuckles* Thats not a good sign.

Have you ever stolen something or told a lie? You have?! Well, then you might as well have ripped a game. It's so common, people do it left and right now -- it's hardly anything to be ashamed of amymore -- but, of course, that still doesn't mean it's not wrong.
