I think this is a good idea, but I'm just afraid that some people are going to obviously add a whole bunch of galleries in their lists.

Is their a limit on how many artists people can add? Because I think that would be fairer for everyone.

And actually, I like both galleries and drawings as favorites. I don't know why, but they both sound good.

And BTW, I'll probably be the only one not using the favorites list. I prefer not to choose faves (because I believe everyone is a good artist). ^__^

Nope, at first I thought about adding a limit, but I thought about it and don't see why it could be a problem. That's even the opposite, if people were limited to only 3 favorites for example, everyone would vote for the same people and all the other artists would never be favorited.

About the issue of drawings vs. galleries, I agree that the galleries would be much more manageable, but also that (at least this happens with me) most of the time I don't like EVERY picture in an artist's gallery. The galleries are a nice way to bundle the pictures together, and it will definately be neat looking. (I've already added people to my list and it looks awesome, btw.)

Maybe you could do something like what the Lion King Fan Art Archive has. You've probably seen it, but in case you haven't, you add artists to your favorites list, and it shows up on the side of your screen so you always have easy access to those artists' galleries, and you can also add pictures to a list of favorite pictures, which doesn't show up on every page, but there is a link you can click on to access it from the main page. Then it gives you a list with all of your favorite pictures that pops up in a new window, with small thumbnails and the artist's description of the picture attatched to it.

Also, if people could fave individual pictures, you could pick the Fan Art of the Week by popular demand. Anyway, I am so excited about this new system! Did you mention something about adding descriptions to pictures in an earlier update? If so, I'm really looking forward to it! Well, no matter where this goes from here, it is by far the most sophisticated fan art system for a Balto website I've ever seen! Keep up the awesome work!

I've visited LKFAA a few times, but I'm not registered there, and anyway I don't mean to copy other websites. Believe me or not, but I had this idea of favorites on fan arts before discovering that Deviantart used more or less the same thing. (I guess there aren't so many ways of managing galleries)
I don't know about doing favorites for galleries AND drawings, I think it would mostly confuse people. But I'll see.
And for the descriptions, yes, it will come.

Well, I thinkit's a good idea! And for the question Steet, I think it would be cool if you could vote for individual pictures inside each person's galleries. That way, it eliminates the possibility of a person feeling left out if his/her gallery doesn't get a good vote or any votes at all

Well, you wouldn't have to do it exactly the way Brian at TLKFAA does, but something along those lines seems like it would be possible for BS. For instance, you could go to the 'member section' and from there you could have a link to a sort of gallery of your favorite pictures. (like how you've made it when you click on a picture in someone's gallery, and it comes up in a window that you can use to get to the next and previous pictures.) Or, it could be shown on the fanart page, like next to where my own gallery would be if I'm logged in. It would be like creating a gallery that you can add your favorite pictures to. Maybe to do this you could add a button to the window I'm talking about that says 'add this picture to my favorites'. I dunno, just a few ideas. Just do whatever you think is best, after all, you're the webmaster!

But I was just thinking: If you do individual pictures, you're going to have to use their titles; whereas if you do galleries, you're going to go by the artist, right?

I may leave the fan arts like this for now though, as I have done many things already in that section, and others need work too.

But there's one thing... Is it possible to have both site and personal favorites show up on the page?

I would like to have and keep track a personal favorite list while still having the site favorites appear at the top of the page like normal.

Maybe you can put an option in the profile asking if the user would like the site favorite appearing in the fan-art page.

Maybe the original one which is like it always was,because it has been chosen by the Balto Source Team..and the new ordered one is chosen by us,lol..No?

Well, you can just "favorite" them, so that they will appear in your list?
And, this list will probably disappear and will be replaced by the 12 artists who have been the most favorited, automatically.

it would be easyer to mannage if it was just gallerys and also it would also be an easyer way to know who owns the pics
