yeah, I like the name Orion very much!! It reminds me of a black dog with white markings and blue eyes. And of course, who desn't like the name Sirius?

I'd never name an animal after a movie character. Once the animal dies and you watch the movie, you'll be so sad. It would ruin the movie. 
As for a name.. yes, base it on the personality of the puppy.
From his/her looks.. I say Sasha.

Amigo, Amiga, Balto, Jenna, Flurry, Storm, Petey, Glory, Tikaani (it means wolf in Eskimo) Hodaro (it means courageous, adapted from hidari in Swahili)

For the male, I'd suggest a German name, like Adolf, Wolfgang, Rudolf, Ralph, or Randolf. All of these names have 'wolf' in them. Adolf means 'noble wolf', Wolfgang means 'path of a wolf', Rudolf means 'famous wolf, Ralph means 'wolf in council', and Randolf means 'shield wolf'. And for the female, Ingrid, Jasmine, Snow, Icy, or Glacier would do.
