The special effects were decent. I liked the waterfall effect, but the effect that they used in that one shot of the sled dogs - terrible!

I rather didn't mind the effects, where they used it. I still like old-school animation as it doesn't stick out like a lot of lousy computer effects I've seen being used in cartoons today. But in terms of this movie, it was used pretty well for the most part, the in the long run, I still have my heart devoted to hard core old school animation, enter Secret of Nymph, American Tale or the first Land before time :3

I can understand that. Most of the time they dont mix well, well almost all of the time. Though when used sparingly, it is fine for the most part. But then again, it also depends on the budget. IF it is low, then the effects will be cheasy. If there is enough, then the outcome will show in that, for the most part. I still long for a total 2d flick to be made in this day and age, true artistic talent shows in that, computers dont really make an artist any better, in fact, it can hinder them imo.

Again some random thoughts....

2D is great, and 3D is great in the correct places. I think they can mix, if they are mixed properly. Someone said that the effect on a zoom in on the sled was bad... i didnt really like it either. But effects fit the waterfall scene.
