I don't think it exists, because some of the pictures that I saw of Nome back in the 1920-1930 stages, the frozen parts of the river didn't have any boats washed up and frozen in it. But you never know!

seems like Nome has gotten bigger sine the early 1900's here is Nome today.

take a look and the genereal Information and History page. it tells how Nome actually got its name on the bottom of the History page

Yes, it was originally named something else that I can't remember and was renamed Nome because of the river of gold that the miners camped next to was called Nome River...and seeing as Nome was created a town because of those gold miners during the gold rush, it was a sensible idea to call it Nome by dedicating it to the river!

Really? hmmm i don't know then. I'm just posting what i found from the official web site. your version of how it got its name sounds better than what the offical site says, anyway. heh...

Oook...I just remembered what I said from highschool when we watched our cultural DVD's, and we happened to watch one of Alaska, pointing out several well-known places in it, and that's how it said Nome got its name.
