You're pretty awesome, Kodiwolf! It's so nice to hear from another classical fan! Do you play an instrument or just enjoy listening?
Candide Overture is an overall fun piece. I haven't come across a specific DelBorgo fan before... though Variations on a Korean Folk Song is a staple in the symphonic band repertoire - everyone I know has performed it several times! Where did you get to see him? The only time I got to see one of my favorite composers was when James Newton Howard came in to talk to an orchestra of mine... but back then I was too young to really know or respect his music.

I agree, even though New World Symphony is WAY overplayed, it's one of my favorites. (It also helps being an English horn player). I'm not familiar with Crossbow Overture or To The Summit... I'll have to seek them out. Thanks!
Sooo sorry I never replied!!
Firstly: Yes, I play the cello.

It's so great, I've started the new season now, and we played: Mars and Jupiter from The Planets, E. Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel, and a Hungarian March by Hector Berlioz. Also, we played a piece written specifically fr this concert - called "Lift Off," by Roger Zare... and I got to see him, too! He came to watch the dress rehearsal and said a few things. It was amazing!!!!

It was a Side-by-side concert with us and the Florida West Coast Symphony - it's the best thing I've ever done this year, and the best overall through my whole life, besides other concerts in the orchestras!!!
Currently, we're playing the Finale to Shastakovitch's Symphony No. 5. It's so much fun!!!!
That's interesting that you know the Korean Themes by DelBorgo... it's a great piece!
Hope to hear from you soon!

I saw Redwolf03's post: Peter Tchaikowsky was amazing, I actually found, the other day, that any piece he has ever written, I have liked. Id on't like all of Bach, or Beethoven, or Mozart, or many of the more famous people. But Tchaikowsky is probably the first ever that I like
all his works.
