Well, I for one would like to see a movie dealing with the real Balto. I have also read that there was another dog named Togo who accualy ran a large distance of the serum run as a lead dog. It would be interesting to have a movie and this dog too, to truley show the events of the serum run

Yeah Togo was the already famous one, he ran the most miles and was left lame as a result and retired from racing. You can spot Togo in photos as one of his ears is slightly folded at the tip, I think his body is also stuffed and mounted somewhere. Last I heard he was in Wassila, Alaska.

Obviously lots of names have been lost through time but don't forget the rest of Balto's team Fox, Sye, Billie and Tillie, Old Moctoc and Alaska Slim

I have heard from some people that the statue did not in fact represent Balto but Togo...After all, I believe there's not the name of Balto on the tablet in front of the statue. I wonder if it's true or not.

Balto's name is clearly marked at the base of the statue

Ok, I've never seen it myself, so I just didn't know his name was written.

Togo currently resides at the Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla, Alaska. Also at the Iditarod Headquarters is Andy, one of Rick Swenson's (a five-time Iditarod winner) leaders.

There is a third dog from the Serum Run that had been mounted. Fritz, a younger half-brother to Togo, has recently been placed at Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum in Nome, Alaska.
