I'd have to say Balto is the fastest.

Not only that, But Balto set(or Broke)arecord in the process. Remember when Gunnar Kassen called Time, Then He looked at His watch and said What in a very surprized tone.

Yes, he could've ran fast in that race but so did the other dogs. It's been awhile since I watched the movie but I don't think the gap between Balto and the second dog was all that big. If Balto was faster then Steele, you'd think he'd be at least faster then all the other dogs, unless Balto was pacing himself at the beginning of the race.

I agree totally. He won even though he was at a disadvantage.

Well the gap wasn't that big, But Balto did win by more than a nose(I'd say maybe by a body length). also Remember Balto ran the long was to get the lead, If He had been able to make a stright run like the other Dogs His lead could have been bigger.

Balto didn't really run the long way, it was just harder. The distance was pretty much the same. Plus the race was short, so that can't really be used when comparing to Balto beating Steele. Sure, Balto might beat Steele in a short distance race but what about a long distance race? Balto has little experience when it comes to running when obviously Steele does.

Balto could easily defeat Steele in a long distance race. He also probably could in a sprint. Balto did seem to run a longer distance in the team picking race. HE also had the disadvantage of pausing a few seconds before he ran the obstacle course of boats and poles. If he hadn't of been bumped he would have won it by a several body lengths.

Doubt it. Steele has stamina, something Balto probably doesn't has. Steele probably spent his puppy days being trained to pull lead while Balto probably only trains on the beach.

Well,it also depended on who had the greater will power, the greater heart. If that was the case, then it would be Balto hands down.

With him being part wolf has nothing to do with it. It might help but if he doesn't run a whole lot, he won't be able to run for a long distance. He'll be too out of shape.
