i would say balto because for a fact that wolves can come back to their own terretory ... even if you take a wolf away from its pack and take it 1000 miles... it will come back to its own terretory ......like steele is lost in blizzard in 1925 in the 1st part..... and when balto found the team... balto told them that he marked the trail so he would guide them back to nome... and steele would mess the trail up by scratching it and confuses balto but he sniffs the air and knows the way with out the marked trail

I thing Aleu is the real wolf, because she was from the beginning like a wolf.
Balto just "remembers" some wolf-skills during this adventures.

Could be either, but probably Aleu. Even though genetically she's only a quarter wolf and Balto is half, she was "destined" to be the leader of a wolf pack. But, then again, Balto could probably do the same. It just seemed like Aleu's wolf instincts came more naturally than Balto's.

well, both are part wolf, but Balto has more wolf in him than Aleu.
Since he had pups with Jenna, Aleu's 1/4 wolf and 3/4 husky...however she looks like her father more than her mother.
I'm not an expert in animal breeding (nor do I want to be), but I think that if you add more husky into a wolf pup, the wolf DNA will be replaced by a fraction of the husky's DNA.
