Sorry but you said you wanted to know what breed he was so you could get one like him and call him Balto.. to me that isn't a wise way to choose a dog.

Just because one is friendly doesn't mean they're all going to be friendly. That wolf-dog just has an owner that knows what he is doing.

Balto is a hybrid in the movie. (Wolf/husky) but he was really a PURE bred husky.

In cartoon, he was part wolf part husky. In real life a pure Alaskan Husky!

I do not suggest getting a hybrid. Most vets will not treat these animals and if the dog/wolf does anything you can be arrested also you must have a license in most states to own the breed. The wolf/husky you met may have been nice but remember all dogs are different. For a first time dog owner I esspeically say do not get this breed. They are extreamly diffcult to train and handle. I know people personally whom have had a rather unpleasent experince and had to give these animals away because they were not properly taken care off. They do not belong as pets.

Try geting some books about dog try to find some dog that would fit your life style. I have one Icelandic sheepdog and she is perfect and I would not get a siberian husky they can be really dangerous and you have to train them really well or they will not know when they arent puppies anymore and still try to play games like bite and more (I know O_O )
I'm just trying to help
