Could you sometimes think before writing? First you didn't really read our previous messages, or you wouldn't have made this mistake. And second, you didn't answer to Acanis' question : he asked why she hasn't left the site online. This means : leaving the site on the web, without any updates.
If I had no other choice, I would rather leave the site online without updates than closing it for good. Not that I think about doing that, don't worry.

Well, I had e-mailed Yukon a few times but I never got a reply. It kinda reminds me of my site, which I really need to update as soon as I learn CSS. Off topic, anyway, I think Yukon also has a problem with his computer because there is often a notice for members to send there emails again because he accidently deleted them. Hmm, I dunno...

Yukon sent this message on The Balto League :

Sad but true, after 2 hard drive crashes and a huge screw-up with the website that I had no control over, Balto Central is gone. The idea of the work it will take to get everything up and running again is daunting.

I can still retrieve the contents of Balto Central (about 1000 fan art pics are part of that) and will consider giving it all to someone to merge into their own website, though I'm going to have to put some thought into that - I don't want just any joe soap to take over something I've spend so many years working towards. There is no point giving the website itself to anyone, unless anyone is an advanced _JScript ASP 3 programmer? Didn't think so ;) It'll just be the contents then (fan works, downloads, perhaps reviews, etc.).

My interest in Balto has withered away over the years, with Balto Central the only thing keeping it going towards the end. It turned more and more into a mere childrens movie for me, especially with the sequels and newer fans being so much younger than me, some of which succeed in really annoying me. I'm also now out of University IRL, meaning less time for hobbies like BC. Balto did, however, change a large portion of my life... Balto fan art had let me to become a fan of similar (but non-Balto) art on websites like http://www.deviantart.com. I'm a big fan of artists like shadowraine, bloodhound-omega, shadow-wolf & huskie.

Anyone who is still reading this and would like to contact me:
Please use my yukon[at]tauxero.com email address - my baltocentral.org email addresses no longer works!!!

I'll be lurking around the internet using the alias tauxero, so you will always be able to find me one way or another via http://www.tauxero.com.

Alternatively, I'm on IM:
Yahoo: tauxero
AIM: tauxero
ICQ: 41476666
MSN: ms[at]glcstudios.com

Sad but true...Balto Central is gone as well, and for good it seems...
I guess everything has to come to an end, but still...Two of the most active Balto sites at the same time...
I suppose I will ask him if he's interested that I get the contents of his site, as he suggests it.
(Now that makes me think I really need to backup my site...)

Yeah, I did close the Alpine Express. For 2 main reasons: 1) Lack of time, and 2) Lack of interest. It was becoming a waste of space for my host, so I decided to shut it down.
That's sad to hear about BC and SH.

Sorry to hear this Raven :?
Silver wolf talked about updating her site recently, but nothing more since then :
http://icyboards.ketnar.org/cgi-bin/iko ... =19;t=1039

But even like this, I think it's still much better than seing it going offline.

As for Lionking.org, I think it's still very updated, Brian even changed the layout of the site and of TLKFAA.

Wow..... I was wondering why I couldn't get back on. That's actually kinda sad, I had some good friends on there :( But good things go, something that just has to be dealt with

Well...at least knowing this will give me a heads up to make me want to buy an extra hard disk when I purchase my server so I will not suffer the same fate as one of a hard disk crash.

So sad to see such good sites go though :(

Silverwolf is still around, she updates her LJ all the time and I'm on her friends list.

I've kept mine updated for so long it seems silly to pull the plug but I haven't had the issues Yukon has had which makes it a bit understanding. It is a shame but it happens, someone new will probably come up with a website at some point to fill that gap.
