Wow, right on with me! I don't want to loose my interest so I don't watch it over and over again within short periods of time. :D

Good point Suka, if you watch a move too many times you usually loose interest. I used to watch that movie once or twice a week for a year, but now I see it only sometimes.
Actually, I haven't watched Balto 1 for more than a month now.

Err...me too  But it's more because I don't have enough time for this. I prefer giving my free time to work on the site rather than just watching it for the 9999th time

There's this stupid chav in my class who keeps trying to find ways to pick on me because I like animated films. She pretends to be innocent infront of my teacher and everyone else. She keeps saying that animated films are babyish because they have talking animals in them. Whenever she says that I never get a chance to say that not all of them have talking animals.

It's ok, lots of people say that. Best thing to do is ignore her and pretty soon when she starts seeing she has no effect on you then she'll leave you alone. Trust me, it works

Yes, exactly. They just don't know what they're missing. But when they will grow up, they may think differently.

Hmm now that you mention it I'm finding it hard to think of that many without talking, but thats not to say there isn't loads, just I'm forgetting them or haven't come across as many. I know that if the animals aren't the focus of the film, more often than not they don't talk because theres no need for them to give plot exposition. But I can think of Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron though. If I'm correct, I believe that has no talking. It's been awhile since I saw it and I haven't seen it all the way through however. But from what I saw its a fantastic piece of animation.

You could make a list of films and hold it up whenever she says that. No talking required. Could hand it over too if she wants to peruse it and you could always print out another if she rips it up! But I wouldn't get too involved in showing her up or anything. I usually just ignore people who try to annoy me, as I don't want to risk encouraging them further and most of the time they are just after attention and a reaction.

Personally I don't see whats wrong with them talking anyway. I think she is just taking the view that anything fictional is childish because it isn't real. E.g. "animals can't talk so its silly to pretend they do" etc. So I assume they don't watch ANY fantasy live-action films like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings etc. If they do then they aren't staying true to their word.... I could easily say elves and magicians is "childish" with that kind of thinking. Yet millions of adults and teenagers seem to love Lord of the Rings. There's nothing childish about having an imagination. Many adults make a career from having a wild imagination. Writers, artists, performers, musicians... the list goes on. I wouldn't call them childish, ambitious is more accurate.

Anyway there's just too many pieces of animation to list that goes against the false notion that animation = kids. From what I understand animation originally wasn't aimed at children anyway... Of course I can't say that for sure though. But I think I may of heard that on 1 or 2 documentaries. Plus back then in the olden days... animated shorts etc. was often shown before films and had to appeal to a broader audience. And I like Japanese animation, mostly the kids stuff they can merchandise gets imported but theres a lot of fantastic stuff that would amaze people of all ages.
Its possible they're just feeding into the common misconceptions about various forms of animation. But the truth is animation is juat another form of communication, its impossible for it to be limited.

Anyway I doubt they want to be lectured, they just want to spout some crap and hopefully offend you. Don't let them, enjoy what they're missing, and they gain nothing.

ok, today I tried to reverse it on my friend, he watchs a show called full metal alchamist, I told him that show was bad (I haven't seen and thats the point, I trying to show him I was being unjust by judging before viewing, as he is being) and hes like you haven't seen it how can you say that, why? I am only saying what you were saying except about your show, how can that be different to your judgement of Balto, he said my show is awesome, better than Balto, my response was, have you seen it? his: no. And he still doesn't get it, after explaining it several times giving more example he is still.... well an idiot... sigh, I guess some people were born to not understand... :? :!:

After a time it probably simply becomes a matter of pride. If he backs down now he has to admit he was wrong. So he probably won't go back on what he said, especially as you presented it perfectly and he still doesn't want to know. Funny though, "Full Metal Alchemist" is a Japanese animation otherwise known as anime and I've come across people many times saying "All anime is kids stuff" (or oddly the reverse, "All anime is adult stuff" meaning porn :? ). Being a fan of Japanese animation myself and since I actually watch alot of it I know its as varied as animation coming from any country, there are stuff for kids, adults and general audiences, its just people like to lump it all together. Same with any other animation from a country, including Balto it seems. So oh well... Generalised statements are almost always (if not always) wrong. I fear its a lost cause!

Yup, only thing we can do is hope, and wait for the day, lol. Fortunitely, I have a friend who I met when I was 13. He's the same age as me, and if I asked him to watch Balto he would would do it with an open mind and like it! Of course, I haven't talked to him lately because he runs a small computer repair and website creation buisness :D
