As a specialist in mythology, I'm partial to the full transformation version. As someone with a preference for the fanciful, the unnatural aspect of something halfway between, generally more like a canine than what you describe with disdain, suits me as well.
Yea I dunno what it is about werewolves turning into just boring ol' wolves, but I actually like it. Nooo idea why tho.

I agree with the full transformation idea. i just never liked the partial transformation.. wereWOLF not furry human with pointy ears and wolf-like teeth. and the bones breaking and it being a horribly painful process, because that's more realistic, they're changing form and for that A LOT of bones are gonna need to break and be rearranged and even re-shaped etc. so yea, more like the Vampire Diaries version rather than the Teen Wolf version.
Well "werewolf" actually translates to "wolf man" so you can't blame them too much for not adapting the full-wolf form right away in many adaptations LOL Tho I haven't watched Vampire Diaries.

I haven't really found a show or movie that really captures werewolves for me. Although I watch Teen Wolf, it is not because I enjoy their version of the werewolf transformation, or should I say, lack of. Never got into Vampire Diaries, but I watched a short clip that showed a werewolf changing and I agree with that type of rather painful transformation. I can deal with The Wolfman-like change more than the Twilight-like change. Suddenly transforming from one to another in less then a second is just...unrealistic to say the least. I enjoyed the transformation scene in An American Werewolf In Paris, even if the effects are a little rough and out-dated. Being Human, from the clips I've scene, seem to do a pretty good job as well. None are perfect, but still well done.
Yea I haven't found one either. I like alot of what Van Helsing did with their werewolves, which I find to be more "classic" to me I guess LOL Tho I did find it stupid that the brother was transforming into a werewolf, and he peeled off his skin to reveal thick fur underneath it LOL anatomy doesn't work like that, even in a mythological sense.
And I'll have to check out those stories you listed.

I watch both Teen Wolf and the Vampire Diaries, though I've never been much of a fan of the half-wolf/half-man version. I lean more towards the full transformation. I don't really have a preference to the speed of it, though. I think Teen Wolf is as far as I'd go when it comes to the spectrum. I don't particularly enjoy movies such as The Wolfman. For some reason the almost human look (like Teen Wolf) doesn't bother me much, and then the full transformation is great (what I prefer) but the in-between is a bit... too strange for my tastes.
I'm currently working on a book having to do with werewolves and I use the full transformation version, though with my own little twist to it.
Yea those shows, at least Teen Wolf anyway, makes them look sooooo cheese, instead of scary, as they're meant to be.
I'll reply to more later.
