I thought Family Guy started off pretty well, before gradually trying too hard to offend people and be edgy and vulgar, to the point of pretty much diluting the show to that being it's entire shtick.
Can we add examples of films/series we do like, but still feel are over rated by most fans? There are many examples of shows that I do get enjoyment out of and feel are great in terms of potential, but have too many flaws in execution to hit the same greatness their fanbase constantly speaks of (Sonic Satam and The Dreamstone being key examples).

Ancient Fairy Dragon wrote: Sure I guess but really it's just our own interpretations here so however you feel. I happen to love that show though XD (sonic satam) I just think Satam is put on a pedestal way too much. It's a fun cartoon, but so are all the other Sonic cartoons to some degree, which some of the show's more arrogant fans are quick to place as completely inferior and worthless in comparison (not that they are all like that mind, many Satam fans I know are reasonable people and good friends). The dark setup was hit and miss, while it was arguably better handled than many other 'mature' Sonic interpretations, it was still blatantly pretentious at times with it's use of 'red shirts' and it's over the top 'evulz' Robotnik. I thought Blast To The Past was a lousy two parter because the back story relied way too much on suspension of disbelief. The characters were likable, but I fail to see them as any more rounded than those of other Sonic medias. Sonic was an arrogant jock, Sally was a cliche hyper competent female that punctuated Sonic's flaws, Antoine and Dulcy were obnoxious comic relief while the rest were just sorta in the background. It seemed like the cast were good conceptually and may have worked better with the proper spotlight, but were underwhelming due to being strictly periphery characters with one note roles. Not to mention some of the nineties slang and gags are unbearable. I think SatAm is great in concept at least and it is a shame it was cancelled so early, so I can understand fans excitement over that, but in execution it's a standard enjoyable but flawed cartoon. The Dreamstone may be a less prominent example since it is comparatively obscure, but most opinions I hear of it claim it is an underrated and enchanting cartoon with charming characters. Half of it is. The key problem is that it's a blatant example where the writers love the villains more than the heroes, and aren't even subtle in how this affects their development. The heroes are bland, under bearably cutesy, and fairly unsympathetic, due to having a far less dire motive than the Urpneys and usually being far more vindictive and gratuitously vicious to the actual villains than vice versa. Since most of the unique concepts are with the heroes, they suffer as well, so the real heart of the show is mostly a slapstick Villain Protagonist scenario with the Urpneys, which is actually very fun due to the clever humor and the Urpneys' much more vibrant characterizations, but still rather repetitive and predictable stuff. There are noticeable showings of improvement as the show progresses, and there are at least a few points that hold up to the concept rather well (especially the pilot episode) but they are far too rare and still fairly mundane in execution.

I don't believe he was correcting a typo, Coolie. He was saying that the second movie will be far worse than the first.

Roadside Romeo Percy Jackson: Somehow this got a sequel, despite poorly representing the book. If you liked the movie then you'll love the books. Lion King II : Weaker plot and isn't as bad as 1/2, but god I really find this to be a poor movie. Sonic Cartoons : Eh, I don't know, I just don't like sonic as a character. I especially don't like his personality in newer games. Vegitales : This always creeped me out, Drawn Together's episode parodying it was hilarious but I don't like the idea of fruit or vegetables talking.

That movie wasn't bad in my opinion. But one Disney sequel I find pointless is Cinderella II. I don't think I even finished watching that one.

Cooliecat wrote: Pocahontas 2. That was the worst disney sequal I have ever seen. Well, it's on par for the original in terms of entertainment. The worst sequel is Hunchback of Notre Dame II. Watch the first, then the second.

Yet Cinderella 3 managed to actually be pretty good and even dark at some scenes in my opinion. I do hate the second one though, and the Little Mermaid 2 was terrible as well in my opinion. I liked the little mermaid more when it was about a mermaid, you know.
