"Help?" Calypso barked. "Why would WE help YOU?" Her eyes suddenly went wide and she snapped her mouth shut, already regretting what she'd said.

Maximus glared at his friend, regretting that she'd open her mouth, too. He eyes said "be quiet!" and he looked at Twilight to see if he could pick up any clues on whether she'd lash out at Calypso or not.

"That girl needs to know when to hold her tongue," Ghost said to Max once he trotted up to him. "She's going to get herself hurt one of these days..."

Twilight looked at Calypso.She growled for a minuet then turned back to Simba..."Why should we help you?"she snapped.Simba looked at the wolf but turned to Twilight."We will protect your pack...As long as you promise to feed us.We barley have enough lions as it is,"he said.Twilight looked at the pack."No...I don't trust you...And I never will.Now leave or you will be sorry,"she stated.Simba snarled and growled."Lets go guys,"he told his heard.They walked off and Twilight made sure they did.

Calypso shrunk back after Twilight had turned away. Now she feeling really stupid for saying anything at all.

Max exhaled and turned to his friend. "Let's go," he told her and the two trotted back to the center of the territory.

Ghost watched both the lions and his friends leave. More than likely Maximus was going to scold Calypso for making an outburst like that. Oh well. The girl needs to learn.

When they left Twilight walked back and laid in baking sun.She closed her eyes and dreamt about Max....She smiled in her sleep.But then she woke up to a nightmare.

The two wolves continued on their walk until they were at the edge of the Vanished Dream territory. Maxims stopped and the older wolf cleared his throat and turned to Calypso.

She shrunk back again and looked at the ground. "Look, I'm sorry for the outburst. I-I didn't mean for it to come out like that anyway!"

Twilight sighed and howled loud and long looking for a mate...Even though it was spring.But she still howled long and loud.Hoping someone else would... Thunder sighed as he heard his mother...He whimpered and laid down with his daughter.

Max did scold Calypso after that, telling her everything she'd already heard over and over again. Afterward, he gave her a friendly nuzzle and told her all he wanted was for her to be the best guard the Vanished Dream Pack had ever seen. They walked back through the woods after that. One they reached the center of the pack, a long howl ripped through the night air. Max froze. It was Twilight and he knew what she was calling for.

Calypso took one look at Max and scoffed. Of course he'd choose a female over their friendship. Without another word, Calypso sulked off into the night.

Ghost, who was sitting outside his den at the time, also heard Twilight's howl. He felt excitement surge through his body and he leapt up to howl back, but he then spotted Maximus looking off to where Twilight's voice had echoed from. The white wolf's ears pinned back a little as he sat down. He wouldn't stand a chance against Maximus anyway.

Twilight howled long and hard.But stopped after a while.She whimpered and laid down.She curled in a ball but heard Ghost howl.She stood up but then thought of him only as a friend so she laid down and curled back into a ball.Thunder also howled for a mate.But knew no one was going to howl back so he stopped.He curled into a ball with Skylar under the night sky.He looked up and prayed about his used to be mate.

Max shifted his weight. He did like Twilight a little...he raised his muzzle to the night sky and howled, long and hard, for Twilight. Maybe she'd except him.

Calypso mad a makeshift den in the woods, far away from the rest of the pack. Her sharp ears caught Maximus' howling and her expression deepened. His jeopardizing our friendship she thought and curled into a ball, resting her muzzle in her fluffy tail and snorted. Fine. He can keep his little Miss Alpha then.

His prediction came true: Twilight didn't howl back. Ghost's expression fell. He was never good at getting mates anyway. The shaman wolf went into his den and lied down with his head resting on his paws.

Twilight smiled and stood up howling long and hard when she heard Max howl.She perked her ears up and howled smiling. Thunder sighed and fell asleep under the stars with Skylar.Skylar woke up and growled.She was so tired of the howling.

Max kept his howl going, glad that Twilight had chosen to return his howls.

Ghost groaned and covered his ears with his paws the best way he could. Oh how he wished he could just go out there and tell them both the shut up!...but then that would be very disrespectful.

Twilight was happy.She smiled but grown tired of howling so she laid in the center of the camp.She looked in the sky and smiled.She stood up and stretched her muscles.And walked around.

Max caught a movement in the dark. He turned his head toward the figure and felt his fur bristle. He crouched and slowly walked over...only to discover that it was only Twilight.

Twilight perked her ears up and got low.She growled and snarled..But she found out it was only Max..She stopped and stood up.The full moon lit the center of the camp.She smiled and looked at him with her ice blue eyes.
