Iiiii'm not so sure I'd compare this even remotely to collecting and displaying the paintings of historical artists (or even more modern ones). Not by far. There is a fundamental difference, as far as I see it, in the motivation and the overall intrinsic value of collecting works of fine art as opposed to toys, plushies and so on. Any response I might give to that probably won't be taken well. Especially by the white knights around here.

^ Can't say I can argue with that. They make me feel more sane about some of my fandoms, that's for sure. xD JerseyCaptain wrote: Roiffalo wrote: JerseyCaptain wrote: Now maybe you can explain to me about those types of fans who collect merchandise, keep it in the original packaging, and then hold onto it forever. There is a fundamental difference, as far as I see it, in the motivation and the overall intrinsic value of collecting works of fine art as opposed to toys, plushies and so on. I didn't mean a painting that'd hang in a museum or one that you'd buy as a print on mind per-say. I was thinking personal art as that's all I can afford, but I still stand by my example as I view "toys" as just another form of art. I made a few of my own just recently and I'm very proud of them. So naturally I display them. Same for any of my figures be they made by me or someone else and sold as toys. I wasn't so sure I should've said that myself, but I'm 63% certain it was still following the rules. xD There's always PMs though. ;]

Not even gonna do PMs. I KNOW where my personal views on people with ridiculous "issues" within this community (of which there are a multitude) would end up. And the misery which would undoubtedly result from my thinking I could actually express my opinion even in private within this community. There's been enough case history to convince me of that.

Well I don't feel trusted all the sudden, but considering past problems you've had with people on the site I recon I understand.

I am considering past problems I have had with members younger than me who can't seem to avoid reading into what I say and drawing completely fallacious, inadequate, and/or malicious conclusions. Each of which are wrong...and usually lead to more and more problems, ad nauseum. Call it "gun shy", to coin a phrase, rather than so much not trusting you particularly (though I know you've had differences with me of more recent date over things that could maybe have been resolved just between the two of us in honor of whatever trust you would like there to exist...which I am all for, by the by)

It's an uplifting thought to imagine Balto merchandise on the market being bought and solid. However, that's simply a dreamers dream to be perfectly honest. I couldn't ever WISH to see merchandise in regular Walmart's and Bestbuy's. I'm sorry, but I don't believe you or I will ever see Balto merchandise (besides usual Balto I, II, III DVD re-releases) ever again.
