Veronica

She didn't know what Sean had said but by the remark Rachel had made she guessed it was a woman of some sort. "Get in Jayce." She said, helping her child up into the truck beside Katie. Veronica yawned some, leaning forward. "So Sean. If I may, can I please ask who is that girl your always thanking? I hear you but I never catch her name." She said, trying to get to know him a little better. Jayce looked up from his small hands, "Is she your momma?" He asked, only to get a smile from his mother. Veronica noticed how stressed and how sad he looked a little bit. Or so she thought. Sean was hard to read in her eyes, she knew she'd have to get to know him before she could even think about learning to read him. Katie picked her weapon out of the bag and slung it over her shoulder, laying against the window and relaxing.
"Yeah Sean who is she?" Katie inquired, seeming to take some interest in their conversation. Veronica was about sick of her always getting into her conversations though, keeping her cool to not seem like a drama queen.

Sean looked at Rachel with a watch it look. He was thankful for anything that he thought Stacey had to do with. He was thankful for the necklace he had got her, thankful for the ring he wore, thankful for the truck, for the candy, for the guns, everything. Sean took a deep breath, looking at Veronica as she and Jayce went into the back of the truck. When those doors slammed shut he took a deep breath, planning out what to do when they got to their destination. He put the truck in gear and began to back out. Turning the truck into drive before pressing the pedal and speeding off into the city. That truck had a full tank of gas and he was happy about it. Usually Stacey would've made a joke right about now and brighten his day up. He felt a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach, memories of him and Stacey popping into his head. When he heard Veronica's voice he grew still, scratching his forehead. "Stacey. She's my wife." He said, not looking at anyone. He knew that their reactions might not be pleasant. But if anyone had anything to say, he would have no problem setting them straight. Woman or not. "She died almost a week ago."

Rachel rested her elbow on the edge of the open window of the car door, keeping a firm grip on her revolver and a sharp eye on their surroundings. When Sean spoke, Rachel nodded in acknowledgement, not at all surprised to find out the identity of who Stacey was. She had noticed the wedding band around his finger a while ago and had already assumed her had been married and lost her to the zombies like so many other people. Rachel bit her tongue to stop herself from commenting on the present tense of his sentence, knowing how sensitive people could be about the death of their significant other. Being in such a cramped space and with Sean being in control of the vehicle, Rachel really didn't think it wise to set him off at the current moment.

Katie

She still sat in the back, head leaning against the window. She had never had any boyfriends she truely cared about so she didn't feel the same emptiness that Sean might be feeling. When she keyed in on what he was saying she tossed her head back in a silent laughter. Getting a quick glare from Veronica made her roll her eyes. Katie smirked, "I'd expect that to happen to weaker females. Pity, Stacey just wasn't strong enough. Wasn't strong like me to survive. Always depending on you probably." She said lazily. Getting a shocked look from Veronica. How could she even say that about Sean's dead wife! That wasn't funny nor appropriate at the time. Katie just let her head rest a white on the soft seats in the back, not caring at all what anyone thought of her or how much that comment made her seem heartless. She wasn't here to make friends. She was here to survive.

Sean began to helplessly think of all the times he and Stacey had partied together, went to BBQs, played together, met in highschool, and their first kiss. It made his vision blur again as he turned the wheel of the car to steer it back onto the road. He had been drifting off, or so it seemed, to the side. Towards the other wrecked cars. When there was a silence between everyone Sean smiled mentally, glad no one was asking about her or anything like that. Anger was broiling up inside of him from earlier, and Katie's comment set him off. Sean slammed on the brakes, tires skidding to a stop. He pulled his pistol out of it's holster and whirled around, aiming for Katie's face. "Don't you EVER put her name in your mouth again!" He snarled, anger and hurt written in his face. "Or so help me I'll make it so you'll never talk again." He growled, glaring at her.

The right side of Rache's mouth raised into a smirk that was invisible to Sean. She couldn't deny that what Katie just said had taken a lot of guts, though know was not the smartest time for the brutal truth. Rachel had to slam her palm against the glove box in order to prevent her body from crashing against it. Her hint of a grin vanished instantly, and she shot a glare at the driver at the same time he yanked his gun out and pointed the muzzle a few inches from Katie's nose. Trying to keep a level head, Rachel dismissed her irritation at nearly being thrown out the front shield window and calmly said, "Put your gun away, Sean. It's not worth getting into this while caught in the middle of an open road. If you don't your foot on the gas pedal in the next three seconds, we're going to be surrounded by a mob of zombies, trapped inside this thing, and marked for death. Put away your emotional baggage until our lives are a little less in danger."

Veronica

Veronica was just thinking about how Sean would react when Katie had that smart remark. He had exploded! Veronica fell forward, head crashing into the nice seat ahead of her. She rubbed her forehead and when she sat back up, a gleaming gun was just past her face. She gasped and so did Katie. She had never thought in a million years that Sean would pull a gun on Katie but she knew it was likely. Veronica sat back calmly, trying to swallow the fear away. Veronica did notice the mob of zombies. She gently touched Sean's hand. Trying to get him to calm himself down. "Please Sean, just drive. Everything's okay." She reassured in a calm voice, despite her fear of having him turn the gun on her. Jayce looked out the window, zombies were coming up fast.

Sean glared at Katie for a few more seconds before slipping the gun back in and gunning it, plowing over a couple zombies that swarmed the front of the truck. Sean took one arm and reached back, grabbing an uzi. He rolled the window down and pulled the trigger angrily, tons of bullets jetted out and struck the zombies that were coming towards the truck again. Sean rolled the window back up and tossed the uzi down, taking a deep breath before rubbing his head with one hand and driving with his other hand. He was working for the FBI but he sadly didn't have anyone on his team alive. Sean pulled a ciggarette out and lit it, stressed out now. Grey smoke slipped past his lips and out of his nose as he rolled the window down an inch or two. Not wanting it to go back and hit Jayce.

Rachel tucked her arm back inside the Hummer as Sean finally started the engine again. When the vehicles was a safe distance from the zombies again, Rachel returned her arms to its resting position out the window. She kept her gaze out towards the distance until the scent of cigarette smoke swiftly drifted over to her side of the front of the truck. She turned her head to give Sean a disdainful look. "The threat of a thousand animated corpses isn't enough, then? Have to give yourself lung cancer as well?" Her gaze shifted straight ahead as she watched the hulking building of the mall approaching fast now. "I guess not even the apocalypse is enough to break an addiction," she added sarcastically with a shrug.

Sean shot her a look. "I don't get lung cancer from it. I smoke every once a while alright, so jump off my case. I don't need you and little miss attitude back there trying to make me feel any worse about living." He snarled, finally nearing the huge mall. Sean was feeling terrible now. His entire day ruined by just one girl. Katie. Sean took a deep breath, he was completely healthy. He had went and got a physical and passed with flying colors. Sean was active more than he smoked, which counted for how much better he looked and felt. Sean's palms felt sweaty on the steering wheel as he thought angrily of what happened to Stacey. He was so upset by it. The first time he had actually cried, was over his wife.

"Whatever," Rachel said with a shake of her head sneered slightly at the over-confidence in Sean's voice. Rachel knew from her grandfather that even the healthiest man who "only smoked to relief stress" could fall victim to the diseases the chemicals caused. Of course, that was back in the day when there were hospitals and doctors and therapies that could help with the illness. In any of them became sick like that now, they would die. "Just don't expect me to carry you when you can no longer breath correctly." In another situation, Rachel probably aslo would have mentioned that if he was so depressed over his dead wife, he should try to stay alive for her and not his risk his health with the occasional cigarette, but Rachel knew how far to push a person. Sean was still steaming from Katie's comment, and Rachel wasn't exactly in the mood to find a bullet through her head or the truck to smash into another car.

Sean rolled his eyes, "I wouldn't dream of asking you to do anything for me!" He said, slamming the brakes on once more and hopping out. "Veronica. Get up here before something happens that we'll all regret." He said, climbing up onto the black hummer and standing on the roof. He needed some air and he needed to get away from all of the negative energy. Sean sat down, putting his head in his hands as he reached down into the window and grabbed a AK47. If any zombies were dumb enough to try to get to him, they'd get a rude awakening.

Veronica

She shook her head when Sean and Rachel were arguing about smoking. Why couldn't they just leave him be? She said nothing as she crawled out and hopped in the driver's seat, beginning down the road at a steady speed. She looked around the spacious truck and then finally she said, "Okay. Now that we know what makes him tick, could we please just act like normal American's and atleast try to get along. And that means no bringing up his wife or telling him that smoking will hurt him. Agreed?" She said. Trying to keep the peace within the group. Katie rolled her eyes.
"If he put a gun in my face why should I respect him?" She argued.
"Because if you hadn't been acting like such a jerk, he wouldn't have done it."
"Whatever." And with that, the conversation between Veronica and Katie ended.

Rachel bristled slightly when Sean yelled at her, more from the volume of his voice in such a small space than her actually being afraid of the threatening sound in his voice. When he left, she merely rolled her eyes and sighed in heavy annoyance as Veronica took the front seat. "It's not my fault he's such a baby. He's got to grow up and face the cold, hard truth rather than running away whenever he gets the tiniest bit upset by something," Rachel said to Veronica. Rachel was not in the wrong here. If Sean wanted to hide from honesty, fine, but she was not going to help him do it.

Sean heard what Rachel said and jumped off the roof of the moving vehicle. Landing on his feet with the AK47 still in hand. "You know what, I don't run from my problems as much as you seem to want everyone to believe. I've faced the fact that everyone I know is dead. The one girl who I ever loved is dead. I know the reality of living, I've been on this earth longer than you have so I don't even want to hear that I can't face problems. Unless you've been in my shoes, you really wouldn't understand." He said, calm but having a little bit of edge in his voice. Sean noticed a zombie running at him and fired a few shots into it's head. Walking to the side of the truck and shooting any zombie that neared. Thinking about how easy it would be just to leave these people behind and go off onto his own, but for some reason he couldn't do it.
