People already have man.
JC has done more about the real life Balto and the story of the Serum Run than anyone else on BS.
By doing fanart and fanfics people are keeping the fandom alive. Why do you think people get so angry about seeing non-related sparkledog stuff on BS? They want stuff relating to the actual movies, not unrelated stuff that clogs up the site.

As it is, even if they did make another Balto movie it would be another low budget direct-to-DVD thing that would have wooden characters and questionable animation. That is not something the Balto franchise needs.

The same thing I said about money applies to other companies too. They wouldn't want to pay the large amount that would be asked to buy the rights to a series unless they were sure they could make money on it.
They'd take one look at what Balto has made and likely not bother.
A smaller company MIGHT, but it would also have that low-budget problem and it still would be unlikely to make much money back for them.

The best way to keep the Balto fandom alive is to keep making fanart and fanfics, keep talking about it, keep reminding people how good it is who may have since forgotten.
The franchise doesn't need another movie to keep going.

Okay, so some my reply may have gone a little too far. Let me say it politly. Please, let me help you I can find a way to get balto back on the air. Balto help the sick kids he help Duke when he got injered. Balto is suposed to be the symbol of bravery and hope an oath said I will never give up. Balto help us so will help him thats the way of saying were even. And let me ask you one thing. If you are a Balto Fan and you want to help Balto what would you do?

What part of you will NEVER get Balto back on the air don't you understand? Read the posts, it isn't going to happen. You can't even spell or use grammar correctly, that says A LOT. You're nothing more than kid who doesn't understand reality of how things work.

Quote:
Even if Universal is done with Balto, the least they can do is hand over the rights of all their old animated films to some other company. Maybe someone who actually wants to do something with them. It just seems like they've put them up on the shelves to gather dust. At least Disney does something with all its old films.

You can't just give rights away, you have to sell them, and that isn't cheap. Besides, even if Disney were to buy out the rights, that doesn't mean it will suddenly be all better. Balto was never overly popular, and its days of being on air and DVD n' stuff is OVER.

I'd like to give a free internet badge to UK now. Thanks.

But yeah, that's right. Balto community works perfectly fine now and it doesn't need another crappy cheap sequel to complain about.

And again, this pointless topic needs to be locked.

Okay, even Phil Weinstein, director of the sequels, says he still calls up Universal and proposes the possibility of a fourth film. And now, fans here are still saying that they'd like the same thing; Universal has to give notice to that. Maybe to you guys it's pointless but at least it's something - at least someone cares enough to fight for it.

Can I just say that every time I come onto these forums, I just get depressed at how you guys are at each others' throats? Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it to say anything if after a few posts of people saying what they want to say about a lovable film like Balto living on in any form or way, you just lock a topic and pretend the discussion never even happened. It's completely ridiculous.

No. We want to lock the topic because how many pointless discussions can we have about the same old subject?

And were is your source to that information?

Phil only DIRECTED the second and third movie, he has NO sway over what is to become of Balto franchise.

You claim that's what the fans want. LOOK AROUND YOU. There are more people, including me, who don't want another movie. The those who do are young and new to the Balto fandom, and they seem to refuse to get it through their thick skulls that it won't happen.

And I do agree with Troll.

Directors get just as invested in the stories and characters as fans do.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he still loved the characters and would love to see more stories involving them, but it doesn't change the fact that unless the bosses of Universal give it the go-ahead it won't be made.

"Fighting for Balto" makes no sense. Balto 1 is a brilliant movie in it's own right, why do we need to push for sequels to show we love it?
I'd much rather see a re-release of that with some good special features than a Balto 4. The only kind of story that would make sense would be a prequel about Balto's parents and how he came to live on the boat outside Nome. A sequel about Aleu, Kodi or one of the other pups would be, frankly, boring. It's been done.
WQ told the story of the wolf-ish side of the pups (even if it made little sense) and WoC showed the husky side of the pups, there isn't really anywhere else for it to go.
Aleu coming home would make no sense. She left as Alpha of a wolf pack, can't really just walk a whole pack of wolves into the town.

Basically, there aren't many good story directions left for it to go that would make a good enough movie to sell.
Not to mention how badly classic animation fares against the shiny 3D CGi these days.
If you want to fight for something, do the same thing Steet tried doing and ask them for a re-release "Special Edition" DVD of Balto, in a box set with WQ & WoC with some good special features.

Well now, this is sertenly frightening. I only made this topic because I wander if you want balto back on the are. I do want a prequel and more sequels for balto. I don't know why do you ever think of doing some research. If you did some research on Universal Studios, who the president is, or where the president lives we may have a chance. What if I say that some of the topics you type, I read them they look so hurtful and those words they sound mean. So if you want balto back on the are do some research like I did. And let me say something to mighty, I am not a kid, I'm a 21 year old in collage and I'm still a balto fan.

Could you possibly make that anymore confusing to read?

Have you not read the replies? There are more people against you than with you. Seriously, give up on the matter already and take in the facts. We have told you numerous times that Balto will never be on the air again, and that another movie is highly unlikely.

If you're 21 years old, then why can't you spell or use grammar properly? Especially if you're in collage, that's just sad. I'm finding that hard to believe.

Then I'm sorry to be so blunt, but heaven help the real world when you graduate, because your grammatical skills are really piss-poor for a 21 year old college-educated student. Gotta call it like it is. You have all the grammar and spelling skills of an eleven year old. For serious.

Are you certain you're not making up that whole "I'm 21 years old and in college" thing? Image

I'm gonna try and spell this out as clearly as I can. Universal isn't going to make another Balto movie because the demand just isn't there! The Balto series is highly unknown among the general public, Wolf Quest and Wings of Change did poorly at the box office and received many negative reviews, and Universal has been busy producing numerous films that have been WAY more successful than Balto and has generated much greater revenue for them.

In order to produce a movie, you need funding for it to happen. The two sequels had a very tight budget, which is why they had to cut corners on them. Because the sequels did poorly at the box office, they didn't provide enough money to produce another movie.

Also, I'm not sure if you heard about this or not, but Steet, Animationsource's webmaster, actually sent a petition to Universal that was signed by AS members asking for a Balto special edition DVD, and Glenn Ross, who happens to be the General Manager/Executive Vice President of Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions, replied to the petition saying that there weren't enough people that bought Wings of Change to make it attractive to make another film.

You can read about the petition and Glenn Ross's response at these links:

balto-special-edition-dvd-petition-t10770.html

breaking-message-from-glenn-ross-himself-t4174.html

So don't say that we haven't tried to get Balto to be re-released, because as you can see, we have tried, and we failed. Also, finding out where the president lives will only make you look like a stalker and land you in serious trouble.

Just because we know the facts and fully embrace them doesn't mean we don't want another Balto movie or don't want it back on the air. I'm sure most of the people that have posted on this topic would love to see Balto be re-released, including me. But we all fully know it won't happen because we've observed the facts.

I'm 20, I'm from Poland and I type better English than you... Seriously...

Also, do you even allow this common sense about Balto 4 that other users are trying to tell you?
