Adam:: Adam ate lunch and went straight to work. He was given this week off but he needed to do something. He drove to the police station, out of uniform. He sat down at a desk and looked at everyone walking around. His boss stopped at his desk, 'Adam, what are you doing. Your not supposed to be here. Go home.' She said in a nice way. Adam shook his head. I'll work today. He said and filed some paperwork. He didn't know what else to do with his spare time but he needed to focus on something other then Sarah and his ex-wife. Adam watched as a man was brought in the station by another officer. Adam shook his head and finger printed the man for records. The man spewed inappropriate words off left and right. Adam didn't care. Adam left a few minutes early and waited outside of Sage's school, where he wouldn't be seen by Sage.

3 o'clock...

Sage:: School let out at 3 o'clock. Sage walked out of his classroom and out into the hallway, putting his things in his locker before walking out. He began down the street when the bullies appeared again. They picked on him, messing with his book bag and pushing him. Calling him names and such. 'Why don't you run chicken?' One boy taunted. I'm not scared of you jerks, that's why. He said and kept walking. The bullies shoved him up against a building. You touch me and I'll have you arrested. My father is a cop. He said, they laughed. Not believing him. The one boy growled 'Oohh, your gonna tell your big bad daddy on us. Oh we're so scared.' They all laughed. Sage looked past the boys and saw his dad standing behind them. He smiled some and pointed. Adam was standing there, 6"5, muscular. He had his arms folded. The boys cowered and took off. Sage smiled at his dad. Thanks dad. He said and Adam nodded, walking the rest of the way home with his son.

Adam:: He let Sage into the house. Jinx greeting both of them happily. Adam decided he'd have a little talk with Sage. He motioned Sage over and sat him down in the kitchen. Adam would let him get on his homework as soon as he got this off his chest. Sage looked at Adam, 'Yeah dad?' He asked. Look, those boys at your school, just because I didn't let them bully you doesn't mean I'm going to let you bully anyone understand? He said, Sage nodded some, giving him a smile. Adam returned the smiled and rubbed his hair. Now get working on your homework. He said and walked outside. He went to the mail box, grabbing the mail. Most of it was junk but one letter was regarding Sage. He read over it and looked over at Sage. Sage. I just got a letter from the college. The one in town. They want you to attend one class there every school day. He said and saw Sage's face light up. Adam put a hand on his shoulder. I'm proud. He said and let Sage read over the letter. 'Sweet!' Sage exclaimed. What? Adam asked, looking at the letter again, 'I'll get out of school an hour early!' he said happily. Now he wouldn't have to deal with those bullies much.

Sage:: He finished his homework and looked at his dad. Want to play catch with me? He asked his father. Adam agreed to it, grabbing the baseball and walking outside with Sage. Sage smiled some as he walked about 10 feet from his father. Holding his hands up. Adam tossed the ball over hand and Sage caught it. Adam smiled some as Sage threw it back. Adam caught it and tossed it back. Jinx jumping up every so often to try and catch the ball. Sage noticed the bullies on their bikes as they smirked at him. Sage looked at Jinx. Jinx. He said and the big dog raced at the fence. Snarling and barking fiercely. Sage looked at them with a plain look as they scrambled away. Sage threw the ball back to his father. Who was giving him a look.

Adam:: He tossed the ball back and forth with his son for a few more minutes before finally tossing it to Jinx to play with. Adam began walking to the gate. Are you coming with me? He asked, turning to Sage. Sage tilted his head, jogging up next to him. 'Where you going?' he asked, looking up at his father. To the gym. He said and Sage nodded some. He had never been to the gym. Adam nodded some and began the walk to the gym, leaving Jinx in the front yard. Adam knew nobody would be stupid enough to try and take Jinx. Sage walked by his father's side, thinking to himself. Sage finally spoke, 'Dad. How much can you bench press?' 210 lbs. He said, Sage nodding some as if making a mental note of it. 'How much do you think I can bench press?' Sage asked again. Around 100-110 lbs maybe. He said and Sage nodded some more. He wanted to be strong like his father. He wanted to have a 6 pack and rock hard abs like his father. He wanted muscles as big as his dads. He just wanted to be like his father. You'll be bench pressing as much as me when your about 19. If you keep practicing and pushing yourself out of your comfy zone. Sage nodded some. They soon passed by Sarah's house. Sage looked over at her, blinking a few times. He looked down and kept walking.

Adam:: He looked at her when she ran up beside him. He shrugged at her question. As they continued walking, they looked like a single child family. Sage looked over at her, 'Hi.' He said and kept walking. Adam made it to the doors of the gym and held it open for his son and for Sarah. When everyone was inside he went straight to the bench pressing area. The guys looked at him, they were sitting around talking. Set me up a couple hundreds. He said and got into position as the boys put the weights on the bar. Adam used his strength in his shoulders and in his arms to lift the weights. Sage walked around his father, watching him some. Sage looked at the other bench pressing area and went to it. Laying on it he tried lifting the 100lbs. He could barely lift it. Adam stopped and sat up, walking over to Sage. When the bar was coming to close to his chest, and Sage couldn't push it back up, Adam grabbed it and put it on the rack. Adam reached over and took both weights off the ends of the bar, grabbing 40lbs weights and sliding them onto each end. Sage looked up at his father and tried to lift it. That was easier to do. Start out small and work your way up. He said and went back to his bench, benching about 240 now.

Adam:: He looked over at her and nodded some, walking to her. He took one of her hands and took some of the tape. Wrapping her hand in the tape. Making sure it wasn't to tight or to loose. He looked up at her as she bit her lip. Adam let her hand go and began wrapping the other one. He could tell exactly what she was trying to do. Adam wrapped his hands up and punched the 400 lbs bag off the rack. He looked over at her as the gym instructor set the bag back up on the hinges. Adam looked over at Sage and motioned him over. Sage came to his father's side and Adam taped Sage's hands up too. Adam walked behind the bag and held it. Punch. He said and Sage swung at it. Sage pulled back his hand and winced some, holding it. Adam shook his head and walked to his son, looking at his hands. Sage, your hands are going to be fine but you can't start off hitting that hard son. Start slow and when you get older, try that left hook again. You'll have results I promise. He said and smiled at his son. Letting him punch on the bag a bit more.

Adam:: He looked over at her and shrugged. Sure. He said and looked at Sage, who was looking back and forth at them. Adam knew that Sage wouldn't be comfortable with his father getting married again so soon after his mother's death and Adam knew it too. Adam gave it some thought before stopping and going to the showers. He took a quick one, telling Sage to go and get a shower too. Adam waited for his son, not leaving the showers until his son was done and out. Adam was always a bit non-trusting of some of the guys there. Adam walked to the door. Coming? He asked Sarah before walking outside with Sage. He held the door open for her until she was outside. He looked at her. Where are we getting lunch at. He said and looked across the street to the local diner. He knew that probably wasn't the place. Sage sighed some, thinking of his mother.
