There's one up on the Balto Source "What's New Today" under images. I won't link it (because I know I'll draw a reprimand), nor will I indicate who is responsible for that latest train wreck. All I will say is that it is titled "More cute and lovable Adoptables!" And it's getting the typical responses from the typical folks who always comment on these things and encourage this sort of nonsense.

Nonsense which SHOULD be against the rules.

That image is a good example of what I am talking about. Spamming up the site with characters you made in the past 5 minutes or so. People really need to look at this topic before proceeding. Despite the fact that this is for topics, these rules should apply on the sites as well.

Let's note this:
Bad Adoptions:
- Random brightly coloured wolves/dogs you made up 5 minutes ago.
- Random "I have a ton of wolves for adoption!" topics in general. No one likes puppy-mills.

So technically this is a rule, it just needs to enforced.

The problem here is that the moderators GENERALLY allow ranting about it here, but:

  • The perpetrators of this sort of garbage never seem to read topics like this...at all;

  • The moderators would NEVER allow any of us who rant about this to draw the attention of the aforementioned perpetrators to such a rant, because that "would be creating drama, and would not be supporting or encouraging that person to do beeeeetter..."

  • The moderators almost never allow links to this stuff on these rants, because of the same reason just noted above.

...and hey, that's a pretty BIIIG "but" there.

In short, nothing changes. We just rant about it and are not permitted to REALLY see improvement made. We all just foster mediocrity by allowing this stuff to persist because, to point out bad submissions or errors in them "would be creating drama, and would not be supporting or encouraging that person to do beeeeetter..."

Eeyeah...

The best thing about this topic is, if you read the description, the creator of these adoptables says she will not be giving them out on a first-come-first-serve basis because that is too easy. Instead, members will have to post the name they want to give the pup and the creator will base his/her judgement on that......

On another note, I always assumed that the forum adoption rules applied to the actual site. I mean, that just makes sense to me.

And Mighty, while we're at it, let's not forget the dumdums who use "Doll Divine" to make adoptables. Image

Just happens to be someone I know VERY well.

And I'll have a word with this person, face to face. It might not sort out the bigger problem, but at least I can help someone escape "Lazy-Land"

Oh re-he-heeeeaaaally?

Yes, do have a word or three with said person.

Really the only reason I would EVER use a line art, those coloring things like Doll Divine, or anything like that, is for basic designing. And 90% of the time, I don't even post them (unless I want to show the design to a few people to see what they think). It isn't my work, why should I claim it to be, even if I credit the other person? "Look what I just did! I spent so long making it!! I'm so proud of this!" and I come on and see a colored lineart with like two or three colors mashed in a design.
Sure they may have worked on it, and if the design is creative I'll give them a little slack, but c'mon, any 5 year old can color a picture. It's not exactly talent.

It's fine if people use these linearts to start out, but if this stuff is all they post, they need a serious wake up call. If they're looking to get better at making images or drawing, then they gotta stop coloring and start drawing. It's completely fine if your drawing isn't as good as a lot of people's. You think everyone else was picture perfect when they started to draw? Heck no! I drew circles for my dog's body, head, and paws, and a square for the muzzle. That's it, man! And it looked like crap to everyone else, but to me it was the best darn work I ever did. And the best part of all, it was MINE. It was ALL ME. And it's a good feeling, I promise.

If you get a comment that isn't positive about your work, don't lash out at them, they're only trying to help you become even better at drawing. Unless the person is harassing you and insulting you or your work disrespectfully. Then you report them and let the mods handle it. Seriously, no need to start arguments. I'm sick to death of them. Really, critique and not so nice comments are a good thing. It helps you realize what you need to work on and what areas you need to improve on. And really, if you feel like just doing your own thing, you don't have to listen to them at all, you can completely ignore the person who made that comment and do whatever you want. Just know that they're just trying to help you, that's all.

This turned into a long post kinda fast. Just speaking to the sensitive people out there, and this is all coming from a really sensitive person too. I was close to crying on my first negative comment, but you know what, it eventually helped me. Not that you all should follow in my footsteps or anything. I'm nowhere near perfect. But I just want the arguments to subside at least. I should stop typing before this turns into a novel xD
