Willow looked back and seen the black cloud heading right for them. He suddenly had an idea. He looked back at the Midnight leader and spoke in a soft calm voice. " To thank you for your forgiveness, I can have you and your heard follow me to " The Safe Place" for the night. My mother, who is the best weather reader, warned me that this storm is just going to get worse.

Rose looked back and shrugged, she looked at her father, this idea was fine with her, he seemed at a neutral point of view, so she nodded, "Alright, I'll go get my herd and meet you back here." she said and told her father to stay, she galloped back towards the herd and led them over, they waited for Willow and his herd to return to lead them to safety.

Willow soon seen his mother and his heard before the midnight heard. She was extremely nervous. Willow walked over to her and told her the plan. Worry crossed her gray face, but she agreed that it was necessary to find a safe place for the night. He ran the heard back knowing hoe nervous they were to the midnight heard as the rain swept in. The wind was getting stronger as they came into view. He had to shout to tell them that it was time to leave. He started running north, into the direction of the biggest forest he has seen. His father showed it to his a long time ago.

Rose reassured her herd and led them to the Cings, thy galloped after them, but she kept them at a comfortable pace, for there was several young foals and she didn't want to make any in the other herd uncomfortable.

Willow had to keep looking back to make sure everyone was keeping up and alright. He also couldn't keep himself from looking at her.
His mother notice and quickly nipped at his long golden main. Just the look she gave him told him to stop, so he concentrated on the path. He loved feeling this free and fast but he could easily go faster, but knew there were some foals in both herds who wouldn't be able to keep up. Then he seen it. The biggest cave that could easily fit both herds. The memory filled his head of the last year his fathers life, Willow was still a yearling, and he showed him this cave. He told him the story of the cave saving the Cings from a forest fire, floods, and storms. Willow slowed down to a trot at signaled to the Midnight leader that this was it. It had a small creek that that would supply the herd with plenty of water.

Rose slowed to a trot when she saw the cave. She watched the other herd go in, she turned to hers, "alright, come on then." se said, she turned and trotted in, the herd followed.

Willow looked around and found a good spot for his herd to rest and drink their fill. He lied down himself and breathed and easy sigh. His blue eyes found the Midnight mare again. She was really one of a kind.

Rose helped on of the foals to his feet; he was an orphan and she had taken the responsibility of looking after him, he was in the care of the whole herd, but he called her 'mother.'

He noticed her with a foal, he looked younger then most, with the mare. So she must already be a mother.. Willow thought to himself. He suddenly felt sadness, and jealous. He himself hasn't impregnated any mare yet, because of his fathers death. He was going to wait until his mothers passing, and when he finds a lead mare of his own. Willow lowered his eyes from her and stared at his mother. She was breathing heavily, and her gray fur was worn, and she had no more "life in her eyes". She will be gone soon and he knew it. He remembered her as a young new born colt as being full of life and care. With fur as gray as a cloud with some rain. Her brown eyes full of trust. After his father died, she went down hill fast.

Rose smiled and helped the little colt out to get a drink, she had named him Saber and she loved him a lot. She wished she had someone to share him with someone, a father. She felt herself glance at the lead stallion of the oter herd, she shook her head and looked back at 'her' foal.

suddenly there was a loud thud and the loudest thunder rolled through the sky. Willow seen three of the foals from his herd jump and run safely to there mother. Willow sat up and shook the dirt off of his body. The lead stallion from the other heard slowly walked up to Willow. Concern filled his eyes. "Don't worry. The cave will stay up. Its been through worse." Willow said in a calm confident tone. Then his mother walked to him. She wanted to talk to him alone. She was still breathing heavily.

Rose looked at the sky and hurried Saber back inside, she stood by the entrance and looked into the darkness, the sky had turned everything very dark, but nothing that could be compared to night, she watched the clouds.

Willow followed her to a corner of the cave. He looked at her and seen a flash of sadness cross her eyes.

Saber walked over insisting on staying at her side. Rose smiled and nuzzled the foal, she looked back into the rain, it was kinda pretty really, she noticed the stallion ha come and was standing next to her, she dint know what to say, so she waited for him to speak first.

Willow lowered his eyes to the ground after his mother told him. He knew it was coming, but why now? He then looked at the beautiful mare and her foal. " Whats his name?" He asked.
