Amali grinned. "I guess it does," she replied. She looked at the huge white lion and searched for a topic to talk to him.

"So, when did you leave your pride?" she asked.

Sergei looked at her, and a very small smile pinched out on his muzzle, then he sat on the ground.

- Actually, I've never had a pride. I got separated from my family when I was a little cub, then a baboon named Rafiki found and raised me, and when I was old enough I left and started my own life, he explained, still looking at the golden lioness.

"Really?" Amali gazed at him, wondering how he could have survived without a pride. Her 'mother' had always told her that young cubs never survived without a pride, and were only capable of looking after themselves after they grow up. "Wait, who's Rafiki?"

Sergei chuckled a little, he found Amali's amazement amusing, but then he replied:

- Yeah. Oh, Rafiki is a wise old baboon shaman, who I pretty much owe my life to.

"Really?" Amali asked, "You owe your life to him? He sort of was like a father figure to you then, I suppose." She was finding his story really interesting and wanted to know more. She could sense that he was a bit tired, but she still had tons of questions to ask.

Sergei couldn't quite figure out why this lioness he had just met, was so curious and wanted to know so much about his life, but still he felt as if he couldn't just walk away and let her sit there alone, that would be awfully rude. So he decided to continue answering her questions, as long as they wouldn't get too personal.

- Yeah, I do, he raised me and cared for me like I was his own son, so yes, he pretty much was the only father I ever had, Sergei then replied to Amali's latest question, raising his eyebrows a little.

Not much's been happening around)

Amali noticed him looking at her. She put her head down. "I know how you feel," she told him, "Because even I was adopted. I never knew my real parents. I was rejected, lost, abandoned, as you might say." Tears formed in her eyes as she thought about her past. Somehow, ever since that day, she never got along with any other lions except for her adopted family. But, right now, she felt extremely comfortable talking to Sergei as he seemed to understand what she was going through.

Sergei looked at Amali, with pity in his eyes and he really felt sorry for the young lioness, she had to go through all that alone, just like him. Suddenly he felt like he had known her for ages, even though they had just met, but they were so alike. And Sergei had never come across anyone with such a similar history to his.

- Well... I guess you and I are pretty much alike then, huh? he then said, raising his eyebrows and a little smile on his face, hoping to make Amali feel at least a little bit better and forget all the sad things.

Amali grinned. "I suppose," she said, "But, why are you living so close to the Pridelands? I heard that most lions try to avoid the pridelands as the territory is very strictly maintained."

- Well, I just thought that there's plenty of food here, so why move, when I can just stay here.

"They let you live in peace?" Amali was still confused. She stared at him with a questioning gaze. She had never met a pride who allowed rogues to live in their land.

Amali nervously shifted on her paws. She put her head down so as to not meet the white lion's eyes. "It's.....um...really...it's...just..." she stammered, trying to form words, but the words seemed to be stuck in her throat. What am I doing? she thought, Just tell him why. He'll understand. I hope.
