His chest felt like it was on fire. He had kicked so hard there were even traces of internal bleeding. The blood felt hot just like his expolded lungs. He nickered at Nikki and nudged her forward hoping his efforts were worth it.

Nikki:
The way he acted earlier made me want to bite his snout but I didn't. I was a lone mare anyway and just moved a little. Raven and Crow were following me with alert faces. Esperanza nickered to me as I gave her an assuring nuzzle.

Without turning back Genuine continued to lead the mares forward. Two were perfect. And with kids too! Beautiful! Genuine raised his ears and neighed softly. He was proud of his work, and he would never give up...

Nikki:
I just went where I was told to go. I had never had to fight this hard before... Ever. I walked with Esperanza practically glooed to my side. I saw something that caught my attention. I started to trot fance and nicker softly. Esperanza looked at me all confused. Raven and Crow were practicing their fancy trots and I thought it was good to teach Esperanza those graceful moves too. I nickered over and over. Softly to my beloved daughter.

Once far from Neptune's territory Genuine stopped. He snorted at Raven and guided her alone towards the trees...

Nikki:
I snorted and looked down at Esperanza. I nudged him to go be with Raven for a minute. I had walked with Genuine to the trees. This was nothing new to me, nothing about this was new to be exact. I actually didn't even care anymore. All of that was in my past and nothing to be worried about.

Genuine had did what he needed to do. He trotted off head held high and lay down for the night. He'd have liked to get some water but he refused to abandon his herd. As the last thought clicked in his head he stood up with a snort and stood guard for the night...

Nikki & Raven:
We sat under the stars with our foals close. We always slept in a little group and thats how it always will be. Nikki told her sister what had happened and then made a quick joke about it. Raven didn't find it funny... At all..

The next morning Genuine arose bright an early. He nickered at the four to followmnhim to the watering hole. He was not losing them...


Not like the first time.

Esperanza & Crow:
We ignored the nicker as usually and galloped around laughing and having a good time. Nikki and Raven grazed but kept their eyes on us. We smiled and whinnied to them, running back just to get their attention.

Genuine snorted indignantly and satmped his hoof. Fine! If he wasn't going to be followed he'd wait. He bent down to drink from a small puddle when a strange movement caught his eye...

Neptune:
I heard a rattling sound. I looked around and saw Esperanza staring into the face of a rattle snake. I got wide eyed. Espy look out! I reared up still on my land. Esperanza stopped and stood still.

Genuine looked at the rattle snake and reared. But not before noticing what was about to attack Neptune. Cougar! The vicious mountain cat lunged aiming to pin the unsuspecting stallion.

Neptune:
I rear up and whinny deaply. I basically buck and slam my hooves against the ground. I reared up and snorted deeply. Kicking my legs high in the air.

Genuine watched and fell some sort of connection to the stallion. He kicked the cougar square in the face and wathced as it backed away in rage,but not before trying to lunge at Genuine.
